At this rate, I can see a full regional bulletin at 2230.

I'd have thought in this day and age of on-screen TV guides and the search-and-scan banners that sort of (verbal) announcement was redundant by now.

They are for the more proactive viewer who will go looking through the EPG. There will be those who assume that EastEnders will follow the tennis, how are they to know the BBC's scheduling policy?

The announcements also don't help people who have EastEnders on series record, and just come home later to find no recording (or explanation). If the programme was kept on the same channel, but shown later, the PVR would pick up the later time. I'm not aware of any that will pick up a channel change.

Doesn't the series recording include the 'W' repeat airing?

There's always iPlayer for that too.

I am assuming no Today at Wimbledon tonight.

No, and a quick check of W's schedule doesn't show that for today. Do they still do it?

EDIT: I dind't look far enough, it's on at 11:55pm on W.

The EPG on Sky is changing every few minutes. At the moment Peter Kay is on at 9:25 (for 5 minutes(, with Mrs Brown's Boys still at 9:30.

Oh yes I absolutely agree with all that. But having a caption and announcement doesn't make that silly situation any worse!

QI on BBC2.

They could go straight to Peter Kay on BBC One, but I suspect that will now been shown at a later date, and they'll just keep Mrs Brown's Boys starting at 9:30.

Oh . . . correction, Sue Barker has just announced they've stopped on BBC One Shocked

BBC One coming off air but QI just started on BBC Two. Guess Hampton Court Flower Show may be dropped for Today At Wimbledon?

Blimey, that was very tight timing! Very Happy
