Qualifying rounds for Wimbledon will shown on the BBC this year, for the first time, in a deal struck in partnership with ESPN.

Unsure whether it will be red button or online at this stage.

Don't know if anyone else spotted this three weeks or so ago:

BBC Extension and Wimbledon Broadcast Services

In a year that marks the 80th anniversary of the BBC’s television coverage of Wimbledon and 90th anniversary for radio, the AELTC have agreed an extension of the current UK broadcast contract for The Championships, giving the BBC rights up to 2024 (inclusive). As part of that agreement, from 2018 the AELTC will take on responsibility for the host coverage of The Championships and together with other broadcast deliverables will see the formation of ‘Wimbledon Broadcast Services’ .

Also there's a (small) BBC exhibition at the Wimbledon Museum this year:

When does the French open start on ITV4? Will that have a knock on effect for the horse racing?

The Roehampton qualifying is Monday 26 to Thursday 29 June, but that does also clash with the first half of the Eastbourne tournament.

This Sunday - racing next Friday and Saturday is on ITV/STV/UTV. The French Open finals are on ITV/STV/UTV the following weekend, with the racing on ITV4 on Saturday.

Worthwhile remembering this is the last year that the BBC will be producing coverage. The host broadcaster moves to Wimbledon themselves in 2018.

So, Wimbledon going down the Formula 1 (FOM TV) and the Olympics (OBS) by producing the coverage themselves.
Although, I do wonder if it'll be IMG pulling a lot of the strings in the shadows of SW19.

So that technically means that instead of BBC Sport producing world feed coverage, they now have to take what's given to them - although, I guess there would still have to be the 'home camera' option, where the BBC supplement the world feed coming out of WBS, with shots cut in with their 'own' cameras (or the nominated OB facilities supplier) for the UK domestic market. The same with ESPN/Tennis Channel for matches featuring American players.

I guess the end viewer won't even notice the difference you can't tell what's produced by img and the BBC as the graphics are so seamless. I presume the current arrangement was BBC producing match coverage/domestic output with img just distributing the courts/world feed and Live at Wimbledon?

I would expect a graphics update may be forthcoming next year though with the change - and long overdue really. Otherwise though suspect very little will change and although no longer the host broadcaster the BBC will be very much involved with the planning of production.
