Could be a bit of awkwardness amongst the BBC team during the fortnight.

How come the scoreboard is top left when all other tournaments (including their own graphics for Queens) have moved to bottom left?

Score boxes at Wimbledon and Queens are done by the tournament, they just happen to be in BBC style. Same with Eurosport at the Aegon Classic, they are put on at site and are on all the TVs around the grounds, and will be on most if not all international broadcasts.

Still seems strange that Wimbledon is still top left and 4:3 safe.

Top left seems to work better for the main camera positions at Wimbledon, if they were bottom left it would cover the players or that part of the court.

The 2013 titles too are Olympicesque. with the race along the Thames motif reused.

I guess it's the BBC living in past glories. Although to be fair it's more the pre-title sequence than the actual titles.

That was just the preamble to the 'DAY 1' message.

The actual titles are these, which I think are quite nice:

The 'Olympic journey' header was used again with 'Day 2' featured I think it's here for the whole tournament.

Anyone else noticing sound down-mix issues with the background audio sometimes drowning out the commentary?

It's not just the motif, it's the actual footage, complete with dodgy transition from CGI to timelapse from a boat on the Thames. I'm quite surprised they're actually allowed to use that footage, I would have expected it to have been locked up in the IOC copyright box by now, especially to re-edit and re-use for something completely different.

On a similar note, I'm really liking the new titles for this year.

That film was BBC-produced for OBS, though, wasn't it? So perhaps that's why they have dispensation to continue showing it.

Nice reminder in the comments there about how much negativity there was about what turned out to be the most well-received broadcast in many years. It's quite amusing in hindsight.

Almost certainly on fibre. Until last year they'd have used an RF link via Crystal Palace, but that's no longer in use. Wimbledon is a node on the EBU's fibre network (as is TVC), so that's an option.

Think they have fibre circuits for broadcast, and also have some IP-based solutions over fibre as well, to get pictures back to Red Bee (possibly still via TVC - not sure). More and more IP-based solutions are beginning to be used in anger.
