I think it did get played when BBC TWO finished its broadcast this afternoon, just the short piece of music with Wimbledon continues on BBC one caption
They're probably a bit wary about showing it on both channels for the entire afternoon, it does open it up a bit to the Points of View brigade (who forget it's only two weeks and we have more than 4 channels to watch these days). Hence the random Flog It block on BBC2, and the fact that even during the Olympics BBC2 remained largely sport-free.
It's just stupid though - they had no problem showing Wimbledon on BBC1 and BBC2 when they had just the two channels and only interupted it for childrens TV, which even then was usually reduced to a 85 minute block - less than the repeats they're showing now. I could understand them say going off air on BBC1 at 5.15pm for new episodes of Pointless which rates well and has it's own fan base, but going off air for random daytime filler which has been shown three times before makes no sense at all.
Had they stayed on air today BBC2 could have shown the Nadal game in full, with Murray only going to the red button when BBC1 came off air for the news. And that's Day 1 - next week you've got a packed day on Monday with the last 16 in both mens and womens and then quarter finals on Centre and Court 1 at the same time the next two days, though for that the red button probably suffices. I just don't understand though how repeats over live available premium sporting content can ever be viewed as "delivering quality first".
Anyway - that feels like an old moan so time for a new moan. The online video on the website feels like somewhat of a step back compared to the Olympics last year - would be nice to have the same kind of "flashback" type service so you can watch matches of your choice from earlier in the day in the evening.
