I miss the days of when we got the extended version of 'Sporting Occasion' at the end of the tournament.

BBC 2 will run approx 20 minutes late now for the rest of the night.

I wonder how many times during Wimbledon Sue Barker says either "BBC One" or "BBC Two" Laughing

I'm surprised she can keep track what channel she's on/the match she's talking about is on/the programme being moved is on...

Note the 'epic' credits to Wimbledon which are now a staple of BBC Sport, can anyone remember when they were first used, was it the Olympics 2008?

IIRC it was actually Wimbledon 2008 which started the trend.

But yes, it's a shame they couldn't use the extended Sporting Occasion at least at some stage during the tournament.

The days of Sporting Occasion being played while the credits slowly scrolled up the screen with a background of the aerial view All England Club for about a minute are long gone.

At least we've passed the stage of the credits being rushed like an afterthought, on a horizontal scroller going at 100mph that we had before the former and current eras.

IIRC it used to be played at the close of play and on 'Today at Wimbledon' on the middle Saturday and the final Sunday.

This confirms when the current credit style started
2007 - No

2008 - Yes

Eastenders will never be premiered on Three first.

They would substitute another programme instead.

I thought that tennis or football had caused this to happen once before, but I'd be hard pushed to find any proof for that I'm afraid...

Didn't they used to show the next ep of EastEnders first on BBC Three?

I thought on one occasion (Gordon Brown resignation?) it got bumped back a day on BBC One & BBC Three, but the Iplayer version initially went on, but quickly got removed.

(I'm sure I read something similar on either here or Digital Spy Forums!)

Mixed Doubles final causing a push back on BBC2's schedule tonight.

They had replaced Today at Wimbledon at 23:35 with James May on the Moon according to the EPG. I suspect it will be dropped for something shorter although there are repeats scheduled from 22:00 onwards.

Top Gear will follow the tennis.

It was a ridiculous BBC2 schedule tonight with Today at Wimbledon on the most important day of the tournament, always with a chance of major British interest, scheduled after an hour and a half of repeats.

Also hope they see sense for Murray's first match next year (and ideally the rest of the tournament) and move the 1pm news earlier so that BBC1 is on air in time for the start of play on Centre Court.

Could there be problems of Sue Barker trying to host two programmes at once if BBC1 came on air before play on Centre Court was underway.

What would they show on BBC2 at 12:45-13:00 while Sue introduces BBC1? Particularly in the event of rain/later in the tournament where there is next to nothing on the outside courts.

In the past they have gone off air on BBC Two during the rain for filler programmes.

They ended up moving it forward an hour and onto BBC One. As a result, I bet some viewers ended up missing it. They should've scheduled it for One in the first place!
