The 7.7m watching the conclusion of the first semi-final impressive in it's own right too.

How many of those were just tuning in expecting Eastenders though? Laughing

EastEnders lost about 5m of their inheritance from the Murray match.

Twice as many people were watching BBC1 during the roof delay as watched EastEnders.

A bit of a slip up from John Inverdale on radio.

I doubt it's related, but before the Today at Wimbledon Barker was heard in voice only introducing 'Inverdale as being in the studio', which begs the question where was she? On centre court still?

After being asked about Inverdale’s comments a BBC spokesman said last night: “We accept that this remark was insensitive and for that we apologise.”

It's good to see the BBC being proactive and apologising yesterday for something that was said today. It's a nice vague apology too so could have applied to almost anything. I expect they did this so that the BBC Apology department didn't have to be staffed at the weekend.

When Today at Winbledon follows on these days, Sue Barker inevitably appears off camera so that the 'studio' appears clean when TaW begins. Tonight's opening was no different.

Earlier on in the fortnight I did see Barker linking to John from the screen in the studio, I still wonder where Sue Barker was.

I doubt they'd have apologised if Sue Barker had said something similar about one of the men.

Sue is a professional, she wouldn't make such idiotic and stupid comments. WTF was he thinking. It wasn't even light hearted either like when Clare Balding joked (and later apologised) about the teeth of Liam Treadwell after he won the Grand national.
His comments are indefensible.

You seem very BBC defensive, yet you don't seem to like John, why is this?

Just interested.
