It's clear that they have access to the native feed and are using the same graphics style as the BBC do for their own 'channel' purposes.

Edit: someone needs to buy annabel an iPad so she can get rid of the mountain of paper on the desk.

I may be wrong - but I think that that may be the world dirty feed which broadcasters who don't do their own graphics take?

I'd imagine there are also court feeds with the same graphics as the BBC but without the BBC Sport logo. (I assume each court has at least three main outputs : BBC Dirty, World Dirty and World Clean? I may be wrong though - assumptions are dangerous things!)

Similarly whoever is doing the wimbledon.com presentation operation presumably has access to a graphics box with the same artwork? (AIUI there is a Wimbledon 'world feed' which broadcasters who don't have an on-site presence can take - and I think that is produced by someone like IMG?)

I don't think so, it appeared as part of a detailed run through of what was happening the next day at the end of their programme, and they've been using the same graphics for their own presenter astons and other various bits. It looks to me like they've been given a copy of the BBC templates and a suitable machine, as well as access to the beauty cams.

Probably something to do with rights but it seems an awful waste to have the extra Olympic HD stream (304) just showing a caption for the Olympic coverage on Freeview HD. Surely they could put it to good use while Wimbledon is on?

Agreed ... But it's only there for the olympic coverage, the BBC Trust only agreed it's use only for that purpose, Pity 'extended testing' hasn't been used as an excuse though.

I thought the bandwidth for 304 was coming from turning BBC Parliament off over the summer?

No, 304's on the HD mux. BBC Parliament's bandwidth is being used for the "302" second SD red button feed. 304 will be an HD simulcase of the current 301 SD red button stream.

The bandwidth for 304 comes from the fifth HD channel, which was going to be Five HD until they pulled out (again).

IMG pretty much run the Wimbledon 'brand': http://www.imglicensing.com/brands-and-clients/wimbledon/

Some daft Wimbledon related scheduling from the BBC

On Saturday Wimbledon starts on BBC1 at 1pm, not 12.15pm so a Bargain Hunt repeat can be shown. Then late afternoon on BBC2, Wimbledon takes a break for Escape to the Country, Flog It and Dads Army. If the BBC wanted a break in Wimbledon on BBC2, they could always show live European Athletics

Then on Thursday and Friday next week the Daily Politics is still shortened to 30 minutes despite Animal Park being scheduled as filler at midday before Wimbledon at 12.30pm

Not hopeful then of coverage on both channels once CBBC moves next year, even though with just one red button stream it's needed more than ever.

And why can't Wimbledon just conform and put the score graphic down the bottom like everyone else - everyone else does it for a reason and it's just rather obtrusive top left. Also hate how they reduce the sets to 1-0 etc. - doesn't tell the story of the match.

So you don't want it to be obtrusive, yet when they reduce it down to set score it's unpalatable?

Also, if they did put every set and every set score on, it would stretch way across the screen, especially if the player has a long name. They used to do this anyway, back in the days of Gill Sans.

The camera height at Wimbledon on Centre and No1 courts precludes Bottom Left as it would intrude onto the active play area of the courts. When Safe Areas are abandoned with Wimbledon coverage the case could be disscussed again.

I prefer it in the top left.

No point showing much of this match now as I'm sure most people watching saw the tail end if nothing else.

The trouble with Today at Wimbledon at 8pm is it's rarely a proper highlights programme. I'd much rather be watching live tennis and get full roundup later, than be constantly dipping into live matches, and see virtually nothing of the ones that were playing in the last couple of hours.

I'd prefer it outside of the 4:3 safe area. They can put it in whichever corner they like then.

However, I too would prefer it to show the full sets scores. If all other tournaments can do that, and use just the first three letters of the players' names, why can't Wimbledon?
