In the Trust approved version of DQF it unequivocably states that BBC HD is to close. I'd speculate this will occur on 26th October, the first Friday after DSO completes, along with the other DQF Television Programming Changes.

Freeview HD 5, whosoever gets the slot, Could start as soon as late August. I'd expect an announcement within the month of the winner of the BBC auction.

When DQF happened, the HD 5 spectrum was definitely going to become Five HD, and there wouldn't have been the spectrum available to have BBC Two HD and BBC HD. That situation has now changed.

I would imagine a lot depends on the bidders and how much they are willing to pay for the spectrum as to whether the BBC consider keeping it.

For example, BBC HD could still close, but be replaced with the 304 HD red button service. If the 301 service became a simple downscale of 304, I would imagine there would be considerable cost savings compared to running the full BBC HD channel.

The closure of BBC HD POST DATES 5 HD. It's in the recently approved DQF announcement well after the withdrawal of 5 from the Ofcom process.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the Today at Wimbledon slot to be branded 'Wimbledon Tonight' in future and be a mixture of highlights and live coverage depending what's required?

It looks like fun in that media centre. Yesterday on Live @ Wimbledon you could see Today at Wimbledon being produced in the background.

I can see the BBC axing Sue's studio when she leaves. I liked the idea of it being presented from around the site, Rob Walker has been doing a good job of this on Live @ Wimbledon it would really give the viewer much more of a feel of the event.

No. It is supposed to encompass everything that happened in the day at Wimbledon, rather than be a Wimbledon equivalent of North East Tonight.

No. It is supposed to encompass everything that happened in the day at Wimbledon

But the point is, it doesn't.

It's a more appropriate name.

It's a more appropriate name.

But it's not if it ends up being live coverage anyway.

It is, as it's still "Today".

But Today at Wimbledon implies stuff that HAS happened not what IS happening.

That's your inference - it encompasses both more than Wimbledon Tonight.
