Just before my annual "Why they switched coverage from BBC2 to BBC1, and BBC1 progs to BBC2 - just to show bloody Henman" moan, a few thoughts on the coverage so far.

On the whole excellent, though still the misguided illusion Henman could win it - and the even more misguided illusion that viewers want Henman to win it!

Apart from Boris Becker being the most boring commentator in the world ever (but now so boring, it's funny!) my main gripe is changing the score graphic which now has NAME SETS WON GAMES WON POINT WON, rather than the score in each set.

It's confusing mainly as it's new - but also it doesn't show the full story of the game. A 6-0 6-0 two set lead is very different to a 7-6 7-6 lead, but not illustrated in the graphic.

The only other gripe is the criminal underusage of John Inverdale on BBC TV!

since it has been locked...from Andrews thread, who had some nice caps;

why is everyone obsessed with Henman? Perhaps I'm sticking my foot out a bit, but I believe he's well passed his sell-by date. I think it's Andew Murray we should be looking out for - he's the next big thing.
Arise Murray Hill!

As for the Order of Play, has it been released yet, to determine where Henman and Murray are to play?

Nice interactive caps btw, the Beeb are beginning to impress me with their creativity on some of their interactive pages.

I don't like what they've done with the main score graphics.

Whilst last year it would be for example:

Henman 6 6 3
Federer 2 2 0

This year it is:

Henman (2) 3
Federer (0) 0

I don't know about anyone else, but thats not really detailed enough for me. It'd be nice to know the set scores at a glance.

I agree, especially interesting if it had been a tie-break situation in the previous set, or a match between the like of Federer and Roddick.

I'm sure there wasn't already a topic when I posted mine!

Anyway here's the capture

Henman is due to play
First Round - Tuesday
Second Round - Thursday
Third Round - Saturday
Fourth Round - Monday
Quarter Final - Wednesday
Semi Final - Friday
Final - Sunday

Of course this is all subject to rain messing around with the schedules.

Next Monday or Wednesday would be the key times when the match would effect BBC News, and delay other programming.

If and when that does happen, can we use this thread, instead of if being embedded within a generic BBC News thread

Don't worry - I'll be on hand for a good old moan! To be honest it shouldn't even be an option now that BBC2 digital in England can't handle regions.

As for Freeview, it's two interactive stream plus BBC1/2 coverage - so up to 4 courts.

And as for Henman - I don't know a single person who wants him to win - it's only the BBC commentary team that think he might have a chance!

Well from a TV presentation point of view, Henman going out early means there will be no excitement here.

No regional news on BBC2 and the resulting issues that this causes, no schedule changes, no likelyhood of BBC presentation getting into a state as tennis is suddenly moved from BBC2 to BBC1!

Well I suppose its easier to do it on BBC TWO on a Saturday, as as far as I know, there are no sub-region opts on Saturdays in the regional news.
