Oh yes. Without question you can't just vomit a website into existence. Look at our dear friend www_tomd and his great netowork.

I'm still going ahead with my "how does mediawiki work" experiment. I'm bored, and ill like I said, and then when magic TVF beta does make an appearance there might be some guff to copy and paste over.

I like the idea of editing the FAQ. I could finally correct my spelling error from last time.

I was responding to Hyma there but yay indeed also if the new TVF is to include such a feature.

I think for it to be a success, it needs to start out small. I planned for the new forum to feature a cross between a wiki and an FAQ, allowing members to update pages in the same way they make posts.

So for example, regional news names on the left hand side would link to a page giving details about Midlands Today, South East Today, Calendar etc.. as I know that would tap into those interested in the regional news threads and then maybe build it up from there with pages about FAQs such as "why doesn't BBC One have a clock anymore?" and "which ITV regions had invision continuity?" Very Happy

Should be interesting to see! Great idea.

As for Wikivision, yes there was the element of Wikipedia being so big and more popular, and it just not working out in the end. However, as Andy (dbl) will be able to tell you, all the other sites on that account were pulled simultaneously with Wikivision due to both financial and technical difficulties. I would have given it more chance, but with the changes to the way my host operates, I just couldn't afford it.

Sure, Wikipedia may lack such information at the moment, what's to stop us all teaming together into a group and getting all the information on there. The foundations are already there, we just need to expand it.

Well it appears to be working. Seamus has made an edit.

I'd prefer if yous did register under your TVF usernames.I plan to make registration mandatorybut I haven't figured out how to do it yet.

I'll have a think about allowing uploads. I've got webspace/bandwidth to burn but I wanna take things slow. This is new tech for me - I usually run stuff on my home network for ages before putting it out live.

Who the hell are you, and why are you spamming the board this afternoon? That question wasn't directed at you.

I hope you've received a warning for your foul mouth earlier.

oh i wouldn't count on it - you only get warnings for questioning whether a thread should be stickied
