no andrew - you see, we have all seen that slide so many times, we do not need to ask for captures. its a poor reflection on itv plc, rather than the forum.

This shows how this forum has changed since it launched. At one time it would have been excitement 'has anyone got a capture' etc, now when there is a programme breakdown it's an excuse to slag off the broadcaster

Yeah because no other TV channel ever has cock ups do they, and they're only a fairly recent thing on ITV!

i can't think of another terrestrial broadcaster that has cut to a slate with semi regularity, no.
before tx was moved from bham, any cockups that did occur were covered professionally with a pres slide, or in later years with the looped carlton ident holding stage ... in contrast to a tone with a woman's voice identing the feed.

Anyway, it's not "ITV" who are at fault here as such, it's the continuing undermanning of the Leeds operation. How many times have you heard of the southern stations falling off-air with no apparent attempt made to remedy the situation?
This kind of fault has happened literally 100s of times since 1993 that I've seen, and I don't really watch ITV any more. And still they don't manage to cover their tracks in a professional manner.
The outfits in Carlisle, Manchester, Newcastle and Birmingham (and YTV Leeds for that matter pre-1993) weren't perfect, but they would always manage to put up some sort of fault caption, rather than leaving default feeds up for minutes at a time as they do now.

But it has been in the past and you know it.
In fact the only reason it won't have been this time is precisely the reason you give!

Andrew don't you live in Yorkshire? The region that Leeds put the effort in to? I think this is the route of your problem, you never had to experience the mess that was Tyne Tees from Leeds.

Well the slide appears so often that nobody has a capture of it, since LNN was disbanded
The ad break in the regional programme is generally only 30 secs or a minute of trailers so it wasn't left up for 'minutes'

by the fact that mr mercia has been seeing it since Leeds took over Central they don't seem to have improved much.
These days they're just bad.
Previously, they were so bad that the ITC actually threatened to withdraw the TTTV franchise, mostly over the hideously awful quality of the presentation.
I challenge anyone to come up with another example of a major TV channel being given a kicking by a regulator over technical standards.
Leeds were, quite literally, incompetent. The fact that they still seem to have difficulties getting things right all the time, when they have what is in many ways the easiest transmission job in the ITV network right now, is a damning indictment indeed.

Not worthy of a thread of its own, but the BBC regions are more than capable of mess-ups. Including tonights BBC2 Scotland effort, where continuity ended up playing out a BBC1 logo as they closed down for Ceefax.
Hardly a major disaster. However if it had appeared on ITV I'm sure some people on here would have declared it the end of the world...
