I would have thought that playing the same set of jingles/idents all thye time would just destroy the point of having them ...but then this is ITV and they have no production values anyway.
I do happen to notice that the ident with the boy carrying toast up the stairs happens to be used very often , as well as the "love" ident. They do sometimes use the one with sports crowds but I can't remember seeing any of the other ones they did , having looked at The TV Room just now...
In my opinion the idents have always been shown back to front, the logo ought to be separated to start with to show the "emotion" and then form up together at the end. It looks odd with that yellow marker out on a limb.
They do seem to use the tree hugers and the boy walking upstairs ones the most. They don't get me excited about the programmes on ITV 1 though. They are still just as rubbish as they have been for a long time now. I fear ITV is never going to be the same again, it is to far gone and all the creativity from yesteryear has been destroyed in recent years. ITV1 has no future.
It's nothing to do with buying into the ITV message, you'd be good in a media studies exam wouldn't you
I think anyone would, it's such a meaningless exam.
As for these idents, I can't see where the money was spent, myself. The astons on GMTV have more work put into them than the animation of the ITV1 logo.
I have to say the current ITV1 idents are poor compaired to the last set. Infact all the ITV1 idents have been quite rubbish since they scrapped having regional idents in 2002
They often show the kids jumping out of boxes one at 7pm
As it has a bit of an excited 'the news has finished, the evening's programmes are about to begin' type of feeling
Even the ITV press officer wouldn't be able to say that with straight face.
You really do buy into the ITV message don't you?
It is the most upbeat one of the set, so why do you think they don't use it before the news?

I think you'll probably find that your 'idents inspire feelings' post is what they're looking for in kiddies media exams.
There are only two things certain with TV forum:
1) I'll be greeted with a "too busy" message every other time I log on.
2) You'll be defending ITV in the face of their media suicide.
I suppose in some ways the certainty of these events is rather heart warming.

Could you explain where I defended ITV in this thread
If talking about ITV in anyway except 'they are crap' is classed as defending them, then so be it
I think you need to stop seeking out my posts and commenting after every one

I thought the previous set were quite effective actually. The problem of course was in their simplicity - there was no scope to write a disertation on their meaning or their purpose in the brand or speak about how they'd be 'more coherent' in order to command the money that marketing companies demand.
It's a bit unobjective to say that the regional idents pre-2002 were great. Carlton had a good pacakge, the hearts weren't too bad (allbeit flawed by only having two variations of one jingle and the stupidly oversized station name text married to icon-sized logos) but the execution of them in their final days was awful, and even going back to the pre-corporate 90's, there was still some awful crap about (the Gil Sans 'CENTRAL' era, Westcountry's April 1999 offerings etc).
Maybe someone from ITV has been reading this thread as the ident shown before Saturday Night Takeaway is one that ive not seen before!
Indeed it was, but it was rather a bad choice to set the tone of the programme. Before afterlife I can imagine, but before Takeaway you want something like the scared one, or the one with the pigs or the kids rolling down the hill.
Not worth starting a thread about, so I thought this one was the most appropriate to tell you this.
Apparently, the Tiscali advert with a women talking about one of her male colleagues to two other women has received a record number of complaints. Hundreds of viewers are outraged at the quite obvious sexual connotation ("and then he showed me something else") and that the advert is being shown on a regular basis, at all times of the day.
Can't say I blame them. Particularly parents who are put in a difficult position when their children ask what the woman means.
