Why is ITV1 using the same ident over and over again?

I'm sick of them as well, especially that old guy patting his stomach, I mean what the hell is that about. And what an odd looking bloke, he freaks me out.

In the same ident you have somebody picking out a pair of pink shoes, just what is that meant to symbolise ?

I'm guessing Beauty, but then again I've just been watching 'Russel Brand's got issues'.

These emotional idents are crap as is the channel and its output!

The tree hugging is just ridiculus for a major terrestrial channel oh should I say was!

I like the one where a bloke is seen standing around waiting for his date, probably stood-up... sums up the feeling of watching ITV1 quite well.

I like the music on that one, though the only time I ever see it is usually before the ITV Morning News (ie 5.30am), as they never use the kid with the toast ident there.

The guy polishing his car (Pride) and guy waiting with rose (Romance) are the two designated news idents, which is why you'll often see them more than most.

Sadness is a decent ident and it's a shame it only gets used before a serious drama. However the Fear ident has never been shown! There are reasons why the sport idents aren't used that often but it's all really dull internal politics stuff.

Still I hear they're getting replaced before the end of the year anyway so its all a bit academic...

Sadness is probably the best ident they have, and I very much like the music. Overall though, I'm not a fan of ITV1's presentation. I think all the ITV channels have decent presentation, except their flagship one.

I wasn't even aware there was a 'Fear' ident! What imagery is used for that?

I don't see these getting replaced before the end of the year at all. A few years at least, unfortunately.

Even the ITV press officer wouldn't be able to say that with straight face.

You really do buy into the ITV message don't you?

It is the most upbeat one of the set, so why do you think they don't use it before the news?

It's nothing to do with buying into the ITV message, you'd be good in a media studies exam wouldn't you

"Fear/Anticipation" has someone sitting an exam, a kid being scared by water, something looking through a crack in a door...and also re-uses a boxing shot and the guy holding a rose from other idents. It's been vetoed from the start though - possibly because it's a negative emotion, possible because it reuses other shots, or possibly cos it's rubbish.

The idents are chosen to match what the announcer is talking about, not necessarily the programme they go before, which is why you'll often see Love (tree hugging) before the soaps as they will usually be plugging other soaps and drama.

As for being shot of them by the end of the year...you might be surprised!

Does anyone notice that the only regional ident they use is the card/toast/motorbike one? I've never seen a different Granada one apart from that one.
