take a look at this clip:

on the trailer for 'the vanishing man', 'duck patrol', 'cool runnings', 'frost' and 'wycliffe' who is the male voice?

I assume the female voice on the 'supply and demand' trailer is the wonderful ali ballentyne?

those two voices were used a lot on anglia for trails- this era was I think one of the best for anglia presentation. I loved the style of the trailers in the late 1990s.

That would be Nick Jackson; who did Anglia trails in the late 1980s and most of the 1990s and was also the voice on many TVS-produced game-shows, most notably Catchphrase.

You can also hear Trish Bertram on that junction on one of the "Sunday on Anglia" break bumpers. By that stage, the other UNM-owned regions, Meridian and HTV, had similar trail styles at the time, but I'm not sure if Nick Jackson did , I've a feeling he also did trails on Meridian.

Another prominent male voiceover on Anglia trails in the late 1980s and early 1990s was Bruce "This is Sky Sports" Hammal.

thank you very much for that Col! i knew i'd heard that voice before Smile

does anybody know how the voicing of the trails in this fashion worked?

I can never recall any of those voiceover artists doing continuity on anglia, so did they just send a CD or MD in and it was edited onto the trial, do it down the line or go into a studio at anglia/meridan and record a batch of them?

Yep, regular voice on Meridian both on trails and often local adverts (even appearing in vision on some dodgy furniture store advert once!). Pretty sure he did/does live in the region too.

now I think of it, I seem to remember that the trails were all voiced the same and I think they had an '...on anglia', '...on meridian' edited onto the end. i never saw any htv pres on anglia, but we did get some meridian continuity announcements especially for the news updates during 'this morning' when the local CA wasn't on duty (usually the station name wouldn't be mentioned, but occasionally it was).

i also remember during a programme which preceded the late night film 'Jacob's ladder' you accidently heard graham rogers record the anglia continuity announcement which was played out about 5 minutes later over the ident.

it also wasn't unusual to see a meridian trailer popup during the night or at some point after the news at 10. they also had a generic trailer in the same style as in the youtube link but without the station name check which was used during the night. i guess doing it this way would have been really easy and cost effective.
