Reading that Whoopi is to star in the West End in a new production of Sister Act, alongside Jennifer Saunders.

Which means - obviously - she will leave The View, either temporarily or permanently.

That’s sad news. IMO, she’s the glue that holds the show together. (I borrowed that line from the British Soap Awards).

Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards will be Goldberg’s understudy and will also hold the main role once a week.

So, does it mean Joy Behar is back into Seat Number One?

Woopi is in Sister Act next August only for around about a month when The View is usually off air. No indication she'll be leaving the show, she'll probably miss a few episodes either side of the break.
Colorman and Brekkie gave kudos

Terribly researched thread Zipper

Besides the fact she's already signed up for this season.

Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.

Got it.

Mods - please bin!

Thanks.

No need to apologise in my opinion.

This is still a topic that's relevant because in my view Whoopi is clearly not happy at The View and isn't the best moderator as a result. She doesn't seem to put any prep in, which leaves her looking sloppy and I wouldn't be surprised if she does leave at some point in the near future.

It would be interesting who would replace Whoopi, I think they’d just use Joy more often but perhaps they’d promote Sunny or Abby

It's so hard to contemplate who could / would replace her as who have ever thought back in 2007 that Whoopi Goldberg would take the helm.

To be fair to Whoop, she's defiantly a lot more engaged in recent years and outspoken sine the Trump era, she's certainly more fired up.

When she does exit, it'll surely be in need of some need blood rather than promote. It's just a shame Rosie's second run was wasted alongside Whoopi which was never going to work.

I think Ricki Lake would be perfect. She has the presenting experience, she's a well known name and I think she could take a more balanced, lighter approach like Meredith Viera did during the early days.

Funnily enough, Ricki was on Loose Women as a guest panelist today

Failing that they could persuade Sara Haines back to replace Whoopi. She was great on the The View and "Strahan & Sara" is now "Strahan, Sara and Keke" (its third name change in a year) so there's room for a bit of movement.

The View aired its 5000th edition today. Of the original line-up, only Joy Behar remains in the current panel.

Whoopi Goldberg was in the anchor chair today (as usual), where a lot of reference was made to Barbara Walters’ instrumental role in creating the show.

Big guest of the day on the 5000th show: Donald Trump Jr.

The old theme tune made a few outings during today’s edition. I’d forgotten how good it was.

And the original set was actually cannibalized from an old US Soap Opera with a fake window, as the executives at ABC didn’t yet have sufficient belief in the new show to warrant investment in building a new set!

Next week, Loose Women from the Woolpack?

It could be hard for Brenda to juggle Loose Women and the View.

Then again, I fly back and forth between the UK and the States near enough every week and I’m fine - though I’m not currently working as anything.

I like Brenda on Loose Women so hope she doesn’t leave. I love Whoopi on the View as well.
