I always love it when a channel/broadcaster gets a makeover, especially when its one of the big channels, but which do you think will be the next channel or network to get a new look?
Channel 4 hasn't had a new look in a while, but their brand is still very strong.
ITV1 just recently got a refresh so its unlikely they will get a new look for a while.
I think BBC2 is in most need of a new look, but I do still like most of the idents (apart from that disgusting football tagging ident), but most of the other presentation on the channel is not very good.
But what do other people think? Which channel will next get a new look, and which do you want to see get a new look or a refresh?
Depends what you class as a "big channel", but Five was the last to have a major refresh and I'm sure will be the next one too as well, especially if it's sold.
The others don't seem in any hurry to change - indeed though I expected the idents to be around this long, I'm surprised C4 have kept the endboard and break-bumper style virtually unchanged since it revamped back at the end of 2004.
I imagine the BBC will be keen to tread very carefully in the current climate (you can picture the headlines: "BBC wastes £x million on 30 second channel logos"). "Refreshes" may remain the order of the day for some time, which is a shame as BBC Two is in desperate need of a complete overhaul. Perhaps the channel's planned extra investment being used to fund more high-brow programming will provide a suitable excuse for a brand repositioning, but I'm doubtful.
By recent campaign life-spans, BBC One would be next in line for a rebrand in March so it will be interesting to see what happens. Although, with a backdrop of austerity and the fact that the current set is actually decent and ageing well, I can foresee the Circles rolling on past that date.
I wonder if there any plans to modify BBC One's presentation to coincide with the launch of the HD simulcast this Autumn? Am I correct in thinking the current idents were shot in HD? They could do worse than take the opportunity to reinstate the original edits; the full films deserve to be seen in HD and it would be almost like having a new set.
I'd love BBC One to adopt the BBC HD idents, replacing the logo and putting some new music to them. They could even expand the set, I think they're great.

The easy way around that is to reuse the much loved 2s from the 1990s. They've been off screen long enough now to seem fresh again.

If you look at the 1991 BBC2 idents that LambieNarin have been uploading to YouTube then they could easily pass off for transmission in 2010, the quality especially the sound is superb.
But I could see BBC One doing an ITV1 HD later in the year, probably adding a couple of HD idents and tyding up the rest of the set with any luck. I don't see any need for BBC One to totally relaunch, the idents work and hopefully they'll be round a bit longer.
The BBC Two idents do work, it's the promotions and their styles that don't.
I'm sure you only meant the UK channels but RTÉ One is in need a refresh badly, the program trailer end caps are looking almost embarrassing at this stage.
