Does anyone know WHY 1975 ITV strike lasted 10 days longer at STV? when the staff reused to go back to work after the lock out?

It would surely be superfluous in this day and age, with all the fibre optic cabling across the globe!

You mean a playout of news items?

It would be done on the internet rather than a dedicated connection between, say, ITN and ABC. They would just uploading the items to an FTP server for their affiliates to download and transfer into their own systems.

Although I can see that playing them out as a feed does have certain advantages, especially in areas with lower internet speeds. The big news agencies have moved over to file distribution now, but via satellite data channels rather than the internet

When the BBC ONE balloon idents arrived in October 1997, the National anthem was played out over a montage of balloon footage at closedown. This practice ended with launch of News 24 the next month.

I have seen the versions for England and Northern Ireland, but what about Scotland and Wales? In particular I remember that Wales used Land of my Fathers in addition to God Save the Queen in the globe era - did this continue?

Scotland did the same, as England and NI

It turns out LWT still had Rupert Murdoch have ties to that company until 1981, up until 1978 at least News international held 40% of LWT holding.
