Apologies if this is more suited to Metropol and I understand if this gets closed but I feel it is TV related.

Basically, I'm looking to buy a new TV. Money is a little tight and I plan to get a Toshiba 28" Widescreen TV (Model 28W33B) What it doesnt tell me and even look on the website as well is about the tuning the channels in.

Why would I ask such a thing. Basically I need to know whether the Toshiba range of tv's does a full scan range of channels in the mhz from 0 to 999mhz range when tuning (I think it's mhz) like my rented Philips tv does. Most tv's only tune channels from the norm of 21 to 69 UHF.

Now because I live in a Cable area, some of the channels on the analogue cable service can be picked up below 466mhz which is below the 21-69UHF range and I don't even need a decoder. I can get E4, Sky News and a few others for free and I don't want to get a telly that can't get that as I would have to pay for it then Smile

much discussion has gone down on digital spy about this. I assume you have everything to do this?

Just email or go to some geeky tv forum, they'll have your answers.

Erm, your assumption is clearly wrong. I do not have any form of membership on any forum at digital spy. The only time I have used Digital Spy is for their news from time to time.

I only asked the question because if you were getting free channels that you were not suppose to get and you was getting a new tv then wouldn't have asked the same question that I asked originally.

But thanks for the tip off, I'll look at their forum shortly! Smile

I'll find a website which sells the cable and adapter(...spell...) used to get these channels... of course you have to notify them of you receving them - but of course they dont know because there's no 'talkback' function.

That's about all you need to know. If you could find a frequency table thingy, it'd help, but that only be useful on a TVCard when you can manually enter the frequencies.

EDIT

I think all the channels are their on the analogue cable coming through my television. The majority of them are scrambled. Most of the time you can hear the audio. As for the visual, depending on what's being shown, sometimes you can make out the picture.

Then there's the channels that I'm getting subliminally which are E4, that's been on for a year now. Sky News, TV Travel Shop, Bravo.

On analogue cable, one of the channels has Granada Plus from 2am to 11pm and then Men and Motors at 11pm to 2am. Men and Motors will come on but at other times, it will be scrambled.

I will have a look that website. Apologies if my replying is a little out. I've just moved house so it's a little bit not organised at the moment.
