What to do with itv

Hilarious!

I'd love to hear this. I simply can't imagine what he thinks Channel 4 is doing wrong that he could do better. Perhaps Channel 4 should be commissioning more programmes like Celebrity Wrestling and Love Island. Maybe they've been going wrong by not bumping off new programmes to a graveyard slot after one showing.

My suggestions are to rework the whole network.

ITV1

This would be the main platform to advertise all of the channels on airing all of their work (including 2 hours of CITV daily). It would see a decline in reality TV shows, going down to just 3:

- Dancing on Ice
- X Factor
- Love Island

OK, you'll all call me for keeping Love Island but I feel atm it is an awful show with a lot of potential which is jsut being overlooked. If you would like me to go into detail about how I would sort out Love Island, just ask.

Also, there would be less repeats making way for US imports and a start on a teenage brand. And the Quiz shows wouldn't start until around 3am just so that people can staying up late have some "proper" telly to watch.

All of this would come under the name of ITV *Region* as I know its something a lot of people are keen to go back to. In my case, it would be ITV Granada. The ITV1 name would go.

ITV2

This would also recieve a new name, as ITV Extra. The channel would keep the current theme of backstage shows from reality programs and some repeats. But it would not rely heavily on soap repeats and chat shows but on imports and developing the teenage brand. The teenage brand would have no specific channel btw.

ITV3

With the other channels recieving a new name, it would be wrong if this one didn't. So instead of ITV3, I think ITV Gold would be a more suitable name. I think the channel is effective to the audience and wouldnt need a major overhaul.

ITV4

ITV4 has been very unsuccessful so instead, it would mean Men & Motors is back on freeview. Not the full 24 hours though, just 6pm-6am of Men & Motors. It would timeshare with CITV.

ITV Play

This would have a huge cut in time, from 24 hours to 12 hours airing from 6pm-6am . As well as this, it would relaunch in a way that it is not identifyable to other ITV channels and the unknowing public. It would drop the ITV and simply be called "Play".

CITV

This would have an increase in time going from 6am-9pm with a more teen audience towards the end of the run. With the extended time, and less money to give away on ITV Play, it would mean more money can be funded into CITV resulting in more live shows being produced and better programs.

There would still be a spare 9 hours for the ITV network which could be space for a new channel.

Anyway, let me know what you think of my ideas, and remember, they will never become reality, because lets face it, its only ideas on this forum.
