Nooooo! The 'BBC' isn't state run—the state just don't let them accuse them of bad things, because they don't like it Rolling Eyes Razz!

Seriously though, independance is channel three's selling point. itvplc, and now utvplc seem hell-bent on unifying the independent stations. The magical factor or to use their term, the 'x factor', was to me, independence internally, and externally to the beeb, and now channel four, and channel five.

y DON'T THEY Just CALL 'ITV1', 'ITV Play (with a few P.S.B. commitments)'; and 'ITV Play', 'ITV Play 2'‽

X Factor, The Price is Right, Love Island, the list is endless, well, yeah, it does end, but, yeah (!).

'Kindergarton Cop' was on 'I.T.V.3', then '…2' the day after. To me, there is no clear brand differences between 'I.T.V.Plc's' channels. I don't really know the differneces.

Why don't OFCOM jsut do a TSWW, and just get some sort of consortium to sort it out‽

The world would just be a better place without Itv. It is cheesy, outdated and trashy.

And the money saved should go to Channel 4 Cool

I think ITV's biggest problem at the minute is it wants people to watch 24 hours a day, and is therefore targetting people who have nothing better to do than sit in front of the tv all day. This means every programme is a lead-in to the next and leaves no room for something creative or challenging, as they fear losing their regular viewers. Hence the news is so tabloid, you can hardly expect love island viewers to sit through 30 minutes of serious informative world affairs when the only world affairs they are interested in are of those on a fiji beach.

Getting rid of CITV is another example, rather than just accept channel hoppers might watch a bit of Countdown or DOND during the afternoon it has decided to deprive kids of much of their regular terrestial slot. So instead of trying to attract its future audience, i.e. school children, to its channel it is desperately trying to hold the small regular following it has at that time.

Yes, there is the CITV channel but it is competing against a million other childrens channels. It is the same with all the other digital channels, it assumes people who want something less trashy will switch to itv 3/4 but they are up against the various digital channels who might actually have something new or different on. They should be making the most of being a terrestial channel while they can, because in years to come they really will not stand out from the crowd and will have no brand whatsoever. Unless, that is, they do return to a more regional based system...

• Keep Emmerdale 5 nights a week, it works and stuffs Eastenders in any head-to-heads but reduce Corrie to Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

• If you cannot fill the 5-6 slot adequatley then extend CITV until 5.30pm with maybe a teen-based drama at 5pm.

• With sport, if you are going to cover Champions League start at 7.30pm with one ad-break as the team's come out onto the field a la Sky Sports and run the show until 10pm to allow for proper analysis. Please also put tweedledum and tweedledee (McCoist and Townsend) back into the studio.

• Axe everything with Celebrity (which also includes Love Island) , apart from I'm a Celebrity which clearly is popular with viewers.

• End this obsession with repeats, yes ITV they don't cost much but I am sure people have seen every episode of Midsomer Murders at least 3 times now.

• Import some high-quality US drama, look at the sucess of shows such as the West Wing (now finished), House, Grey's Anatomy and Splinter Cell, and run them Fridays from 9pm.

• Find a decent sitcom and please dont axe drama's after just one episode.

Just on a personal note, as a Walsall FC fan the return of Football League Extra after midnight on Monday's would be nice.
And finally, to the controller of ITV2, Please stop repeating a film about an hour after the first showing has finished!!!.

They haven't dropped Jane Hall after one episode, it has gained a good audience over the past few weeks-- and deservedly so. It is a shame that ITV can't bring us more drama like this weekday nights at 9pm; rather than cheapo programming or... ergh... Love Island

Agree with most of what you say - it's all common sense really.

The only thing I disagree with is cutting back Corrie - I just say reschedule it at 7.30pm weekdays so it doesn't impact to much on the rest of the primetime schedule, freeing up the 8pm slot to try something new, and also freeing up early Sunday evening.

(Although with ITV wanting us to believe they are strapped for cash, perhaps "freeing up" the schedule is the last thing they want to do!)

Re: Champions League - agree extend it to 10pm so it's not a rushed finish, perhaps including highlights of the other UK match in the hour.

Don't think the rights allow it otherwise they'd do it, but it be much better to have the highlights on the Wednesday so it can include the British games from Wednesday night, plus a round up of all games from both nights.

Also, scrap this idea of having programmes starting at 10pm and then continuing at 11pm. Instead work on a late night line up of programmes starting at 11pm. Push back The Mint / Quizmania etc. to 1am to allow for films etc.

ITV2 needs a good sort out too - it's really gone downhill since ITV4 nicked most the good stuff!

Im sure you've said that before about moving Corrie to Monday-Friday at 7.30pm. I strongly disagree. If they must show 5 episodes a week id rather them schedule it as it is now. I like the episodes spread out across the week with Tuesday's/Thursday's off rather than have it 5 episodes in a row. I dont care what they do with Emmerdale, they can show it 7 nights a week for an hour for all I care as I stopped watching that earlier this year.

ITV don't care about what you 'would rather' though.

Isn't the point of a forum to project opinion? Idiot.

Rolling Eyes Sure thing. But ITV don't care about the viewer opinion. That's all I was saying. If it's more profitable to strip CStreet Mon-Fri they will do it, because only a small proportion of viewers care what days Corrie is on, as long as it's on. It's only superfans like Jez who would despair and lapse into depression at such a move.

Idiot.

Well im a viewer so they should care about what their viewers want. And I dont care if they do, im just giving an opinion.

As for suggesting lapse into depression at something like that - you are the one that's an idiot mate.
