1. CA, itv is past it, lost in a generation trying to re-capture past glories, they should just scrap itv and launch new channel.

2. Problem is, anything itv does looks un-professional, for example, it's news coverage is a bit too mumsy at lunchtime and too full on shouting at dinnertime, Channel4 news, can actually be comical and run news stories like Brain Training on the DS, to their coverage of the Middle-Eastern Conflict, but at the same time achieve a professional result.

3. Itv has no reason to exist, BBC exists because it has to, it's government run. Channel4 exists as a channel to have diffenent views and actually causes a discussion between viewers and the government eg Brass Eye, ITV has no reason, it has no objectives other than to make money, people have cotton'd on to this and this is why viewing figures are going down.

4. ITV has no obligation in the future on digital tv where it programming is very specific to show any childrens programmes on itv1 as they already have a childrens channel, at the moment they should have to be obliged to do the normal amount just like the BBC, so could everyone stop whining about CITV has gone to the dogs, i'm sure it wil., come back with some origional programming and have a Saturday morings programme to be proud of.

p.s. what does itv stand for, idiots tv or international?

The BBC is not government run, it is not a state TV channel, it is a Public Service broadcaster, there is a difference.

Wiki - The BBC is a quasi-autonomous Public Corporation operating as a public service broadcaster. The Corporation is currently run by a board of governors appointed by The Queen on the advice of government ministers; however, the BBC is, per its charter, to be free from both political and commercial influence and answers only to its viewers and listeners.

isn’t channel 4 a state owned corporation as well, which is now required to be self-financing.

If you don't even know what ITV stands for, perhaps you should have left this topic to someone who does?

It's Independent (from the BBC) TV.

ITV do need a major shake up. Theres no personal feeling to it anymore. When it was more regional you had local voices you recognise, you had major production places in every region. You could turn on at 7.30 on a Thursday and see a programme about your area. There wasnt celebs arguing all the time on a beach. There wasnt many competition style programmes where you had to ring in to save your favourite. Maybe they should bring back closedown at 12.30am to stop all the quiz rubbish. Bring back menu's which we never see anymore on ITV. When the menu adverts would run, you could see things that could tempt you to stay watching the channel for most of the evening.

My Plan-

Stop all the Quiz Channels
Bring Back some gameshows without the fluffyness
Cut down the soaps to 3 times a week
No More Celebrity things unless maybe a christmas special
More Drama series (Long Running ie. 13 parts)
Cut down on the chatshows/agony shows during the daytime
More regular top name films
Bring back World of Sport on a Weekends
More Local programmes
Local Invision continuity
Regular news updates (like a 5 news update)
More music programmes
More quality childrens programmes
Buy some quality proven drama from the US and Austrailia (West Wing, House, Bones, Veronica Mars etc.)
No more "phone to save your favourite" programmes
Oh and also bring back proper credit sequences no more blue background for Corrie please.

I'm not saying I like them, but the quiz channel is helping ITV. Maybe it could be replaced on Freeview by something else, but only when ITV Play is available on the other platforms.
And I think it should only be on ITV1 at the weekend, it can be quite entertaining on a Friday and Saturday night.

From a more realistic point of view, all I'd say to change ITV for the better is to just ditch these pointless Reality shows and put some form of decent Entertainment on instead, though they can't afford to experiment too much, I think viewers would feel more apprieciated if they did have some different Drama and Comedy on the channel.

I say keep ITV2-4, keep ITV Play, if it isn't broke why fix it? These channels are very popular and they are increasing revenue for ITV to stop the advertising decline, well for the time being anyway.

Is it me or do ITV1 seem to keep using the same ident a lot more than the others - the one with the people hugging the trees (love I think it's called). Having said that, a rare one was used into Taggart this evening, the one with the man in the cinema. But the tree huggers was used three times tonight.
