Over how many tapes ? And where do you keep them all, and do they ever get a viewing ?

Erm, I think I've got about 40 at last count..... they're kept in large storage cupboards and yes, they get viewed! I'm learning to do tape-to-tape recording so I can put the best bits on a few tapes.....

How many hours of recording can these tapes carry? Do you use long play?

I use E240 tapes and record using Long Play, so that's 8 hours per tape.

The only thing I'd watch there is the play-back quality on long play, I find it is poor if you want to keep stuff.

By my rough calculations, surely if you have 40 eight hour tapes, recording 40 minutes of footage each weekday, you can only have archived around 1.85 years of Look North? (Yes, I have nothing better to do)

I used to archive Top of the Pops and Home Improvement (sad, I know), though these collections always got wiped as soon as I lost interest, lol.

Oh forgot to mention, also have a whole episode of Night and Day. Remember that!?

My collection is a little less inspiring. I've got some BBC One balloons, Channel Four circles (plus a Channel Four Racing "welcome back" sting with that great old music), Meridian idents/break bumpers from the final orange era, an ITN Evening News bulletin (short), an old ITV Weather "weather people" sting, a Sunlife sponsorship sting for Meridian Weather, some trails and programme slides from the BBC One "1" era, a "welcome back" sting from Scratchy & Co., a Meridian trail and promo-sting from the purple era, and some of the original Meridian hearts presentation from November 1999. Nothing remarkable. I also have quite an amount of CiTV and Disney Channel material from the past five years, but no tvguy, I cannot capture it.

I know you can't ,but if you get a TV Card for easter or you birthday or just buy one, could you capture CiTV black background idents please?
Anything else would be good aswell.

I've got lots and lots of good stuff. A couple of favourites are the 1985-into-86 Whistle Test Special, complete with mock-Ceefax menu graphics and a splendid BBC2 closedown at the end; and a TVS closedown from the coloured-shell era, with the national anthem playing over a series of still pictures of the royal family being all regal and assorted photos of royal residences. What makes this especially great is that about 20 seconds after it all fades to silent black, the announcer pops back in sound only and says "don't forget to switch us off, will you?".

I've got Granada In-Vision from the late 80's and titles to The Young Doctors. Oh, and Granada Reports as well, FULL.

I would have more, but my Mum threw threw them all out, stupid woman.

At the start, I didn't tape all the programme content, just the bits with Paul on and perhaps the two reports beforehand so I could get the banter in context... whole episodes came about some time during 2002, can't remember the exact time. Even now, I usually don't record the sport.

I recently found LP videos with seemingly back-to-back episodes of 'Look and Read' - Earthwarp, Spywatch etc. and every TV presentation fanatic's favourite - LRTV.

I was looking through a tape today[i'd looked at some of it in the summer] and i found an itv news summary with the purple hearts ident before it! After that there was a central news update with the short version of those great titles from 2002! But after, the weather had a voiceover instead of CSO! It was all inside some of This Morning!

If 2002 is considered old, it makes me feel ancient Confused
