Ah, I forgot, I was scared ****less of the Channel 4 American Football ident as well. Laughing

I wasn't full-on scared of any idents years ago, but I did find a few sort of weird, anything I did not expect to see as an ident was interesting.

95% percent of the time, the Blocks forming a 4 would always be used in an ident, so it was strange seeing a picture of what was supposed to be an American footballer (which practically bares no resemblance to the other idents) in its place, which proceeded to breathe far too heavily - inspired by Darth Vader perhaps?

Although on analysis, the blocky arms, body and legs form a very vague '4', with the colours in their correct places, I believe. That's something I could never have noticed back years ago.

And this Ident I found strange:

"What happened to the 2?" - but why a bar code?

The original Def II logo had the roman numeral II against a barcode with "Def II" written below it in a different font to the above. It had a rather energetic opening sequence which I preferred to the idents like the one above. It used to be printed in the Radio Times listings everytime a Def II programme or programmes were mentioned.

I haven't really found many idents scary but I did have nightmares about the Scottish TV Thistle for some strange reason. Confused

And Paramount had one too, with a turkey standing in the middle of a busy road, or something.

Well as a graphic, it wasn't so bad but some of the car lights would flash on and
off in time with about 10 different car horns going off very loudly. Should you
fall asleep watching Paramount, by the time this testcard appeared,
it would have woken you up straight away!

It was actually a giant chicken (not a turkey) standing over a motorway. It (sort of) paid homage to the old "Why did
the chicken cross the road?" joke. The current overnight ident on Paramount Comedy (and Paramount 2) features
a revolving Paramount cube, with an extremely creepy laughter track loop being played over it . . .

This ident was the same as the 1991 "Blade" ident without the "2". There was also another one instead of the "2" in "Copper Cutout", also from 1991.

Both soundtracks are the same, correct?

A noisy beat that probably falls in the category of "industrial" and could quite easily get on my nerves.

As already mentioned, the nightime Thames ident that introduced Armchair Thriller used to make to me feel uneasy way back when.

Also, the eery haunting music with the ghostly owl used by Channel 4 in its first NIGHTIME idents always made me come out in goosepimples.

Spot the spelling mistake!

I Used to find the 4Schools countdown Scary (the one with the Weather vane).

Also, although it is not an ident, the Crodile from "on the Record" frightens small children.

How can you not find the original full length TSW ident scary when you first see it? Particularly when viewed on a large TV screen. Spooked me anyway. Mind you the first time I saw the TSW logo itself (since I was a kid) was pretty damn scary too.

I prefer the other TSW ident!
