I have a plea that someone here might be able to help with.

In the (very) old days of Westward Television, they used to show a cartoon of a few seconds AFTER their closedown.

They did the 'All the advertisements you have seen on this channel today' bit, over the IBA caption, then the National Anthem, followed by the 'Don't forget to switch off your set' bit over a black screen; then, after a pause of about 15 seconds, they always showed this little cartoon thing, lasting about 10 seconds at most.

If my memory serves me rightly, it was in 'Smurf' style, but was similar in theme to the end credits of The Flintstones, where Fred puts the cat out and turns the lights off.

Does anyone have a copy of it; or does anyone know a location on the web where it can be downloaded?

Ed, that's brilliant, many, many thanks.

Would you mind if I was REALLY picky and asked if you've got a clean version which goes right to the end of Loeki's jingle, without the cutoff?

No worries if you haven't, I've already got FAR more than I expected.

I found this press release about Loeki. Unfortuantely I am unaware of where it came from, although could be the TV Times.

''Look out for Loeki, a loopy sort of lion who could easily become a craze to rival even Westward's well-established favourite, Gus Honeybun.

By the autumn it is expected that West Country shops will be selling soft Loeki toys, Loeki T-shirts and even Lokeki Christmas cards. Before long there'll probably be a Loeki fan club.

Meanwhile, the lion in cartoon form, created by Dutch animator Joop Geesink, designer of well over 2,000 doll characters, makes his English debut on Westward screens on Saturday.

Loeki - pronounced Loook-ee - will appear in four-second comedy flashes before and after some of the commerical breaks. And he is the sort of lion who is obviously headed for trouble whatever he does' which is just about everything - from playing the piano to flying an aeroplane. He is often abetted, if not actually aided, by a mouse called Pip.

Originally created for Dutch commerical TV and now shown all over Europe, these tempting glimpses of a likeable new clown have become popular on the Continent, where viewers are now well use to this less formal way of heralding a 'natural break'.

Westward TV has bought 400 episodes of Loeki's escapades. They will appear either at the start or at the end of a break period; Westward TV are not saying exactly when or how often. One day he might appear just once and another day four or five times.

Managing director Ronald Perry, who decided that Westward would be the first British TV company to show a character that is already a firm favourite in Europe, said: 'Everyone here is enamoured with Loeki. The technicians get a big laugh out of his antics. He's a charming and cheerful character, just the sort we need in 1975.'

Westward was the frist ITV station to have its own animal mascot and Gus Honeybun, of course, has become one of its best known, most popular characters. At the moment the rabbit is regarding the lion as a new friend but, with a lion like Loeki, anything could happen.''
