And a Happy New Year to you too!

Well this forum has been though it all - moving hosts three times, running out of webspace, bandwidth and CPU usage but we've now burnt the whole server out too! Very Happy

It's such a pain that all data was lost. The actual files are backed up daily and were replaced straight away. But the mySQL database holding the member details, posts, topics - everything could not be restored.

Unfortunately, this means everyone is required to sign up again. The process is very simple and all you need to do is validate the membership when you get your email confirmation.

As a rule of thumb, I don't think I'll be restoring people's post count and registration date unless there's sufficient interest in doing so.

Once again my apologies. Oh for the days of flat-file Ikonboard. From now on, you can be assured that I'll be keeping regular backups of posts and definitely of members!!

Cheers, Asa

I know I sound silly, but I think we should use IBF. Faster, more features and easier backup - You can do it from the admin cp i believe Very Happy

A fair few people have been talking about IBF! Are you guys on commission! phpBB allows for backups from the control panel, it's just the download size is quite high for a site like this so I never made it a regular occurance. I simply don't have the time to swop software when, to be fair, it simply isn't needed. When phpBB is getting old, no longer working and I have loads of time to re-include all these hacks, then I'll look at other software!

I'm also worried about the overuse of CPU usage which came as a result of trying other boards (including a non-hacked phpBB format). It just isn't worth the hassle when this forum still does the job it's supposed to. But thanks for the suggestion.

Cheers, Asa

Hopefully some good will come out of this, all the crap will be flushed out like all those people who just became members last time to annoy all the other ones who have the genuine interest in television

And good job in bringing back the forum in a matter of hours Asa, well dome
