Very well done BBC Wales. Was this the inspiration? (go to about 09.20" in)

Probably not, it's what TV's used to do in the old days when you turned them off

Indeed - but it's damn similar though isn't it?!

No, it wasn't the direct inspiration, although there's a pleasing similarity. We were going to put a disappearing dot in there, but once the globe was zoomed right out I suggested that Africa would do the job just as well!

Reminded me a little of the final 405-line closedown which is on YT somewhere!
Great stuff, glad it was marked.

Was there anything special in the Welsh version of this week's Radio Times, or did they just go from printing the S4C analogue stuff to S4C Digidol in its place on the channel 1-5 pages?

The Welsh RT has for as long as I remember had Channel 4 on its channel 1-5 double pages and S4C relegated to regional variations. Odd, but it has.

Oooh that's nice. I have that endboard at 9'27" from an ex-member of staff.

I was sent the London version instead on my RT subscription this week Rolling Eyes so I don't know for certain, but next week's copy just has the Digidol variations removed and the single S4C listing remaining. This morning's Daily Post, in the variations beneath the S4C Digidol column, says "S4C Analogue as above except No Variations". Despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of Daily Post readers haven't been able to watch the analogue service for weeks, they were still printing the listings!

I'll express my thanks to the BBC Wales pres team too - a fantastic send-off last night, exceptionally well done. It's these little extra efforts that they make from time to time that really set them apart from Network and the other nations.

I liked what BBC Wales did - although I was half expecting the globe to be accompanied by the national anthems when it appeared!

I was expecting that, just after S4C went out with the National Anthem.

Not really, just reflects the popularity of C4 over S4C in Wales. Remember most of the north and south coasts of Wales use English transmitters, and all digital platforms in Wales carry C4.

If you'd like to hear more about the end of analogue TV in Wales, and hear from the person responsible for that closing junction, have a listen to the first half-an-hour of Wednesday's phone-in on BBC Radio Wales.

You can still pick it up off iPlayer here:

You said that just like a television announcer!
