As reported by the BBC, Wendy Richard, of Eastenders fame, has lost her battle with cancer.

While not an amazing actress she truly was one of the stalwarts of the soap and will be a great loss to many lives.

like like Mrs Slocombe has no one know to talk about her pussy. I always like her on Are you being served

Sad day, Wendy put up one hell of battle! *cues Julia's Theme*

The BBC are quick off the mark, there's a tribute to Wendy at 8pm tonight.

All news organisations have a stack of obituaries waiting to be run, BBC news has a department just to look after them

There are very few people who would have a half hour programme waiting on the shelf, only those who are very important (Royal Family, senior politicians) and those big stars who are expected to die. Although these will normally be tweaked and re-edited on the day though.

Some are done on the day, they broadcast a tribute to Jill Dando the evening that she died and that was, of course, made in the course of about 6 hours.... in fact it was only finished a few minutes before air

We know Sky has a Norman Wisdom tribute in the can.

A very enjoyable tribute there. Didn't quite realise she had such a long lasting career.

Also the EastEnders credits ran announcer-less with a tribute caption at the end (as per Mike Reid and Gretchen Franklin.)
