One could argue that this genre has seen a decline in output especially on BBC One which is now a ratings grabbing, commercial channel wannabe. They already show more trailers than ITV does adverts.

Just a small technical point here - I'm sure if you looked at the amount of time the BBC spend showing trailers and compared it to the amount of time ITV spend showing adverts you'd see that your comments were absolutely untrue. Don't forget that ITV show adverts in the middle of their programmes too - the BBC would never consider breaking up their programmes with adverts.

If you're going to bash the BBC, then at least use facts as a basis for doing so.

I put the reasons for the EE omnibus being in that place in an earlier post - to suit a particular audience who will not sit down watchimg religious programming.

Where's m'Lord then? Spouting racist comments elsewhere then?

Don't be such a chalkie.

Can you point out ANY racisit comments that I've mad that have not been in jest, you filthy turk?

The point I made about "black people" getting digital radio stations etc, is that the BBC does seem to have resources to create additional services aimed at them, when really their primary network channels should cater for the minorities too.

And in any case, if the blacks have to put up with all their BBC programming on a digital channel, why can't the house wives who want to watch eastenders?

I'll have you know that those 'blacks' actually watch more mainstream than minority programming. They don't actually like being patronised and pigeon-holed as the 'black community' by white liberals when in reality the majority of them just get on with their lives as Brits. And 'housewives' are among the most aimed at by advertisers (see Coronation Street)

Our whole society pigeonholes ethnic minorities whether you like it or not.

I'm not saying that every individule does, but the BBC does, the government does, and most work places do.

To them, they are a number, a statistic or a means to get an equal opertunities accolade or meet some target.

And, I agree with you, and find it offensive that we've come to the point where we have today, with such things as ethnic minorities being fast tracked through police training, etc just to meet government targets. It's a sham.

The Sunday Frost programme, has an advert/trail break, doesn't it?

It is almost certainly there to allow guests to move on or off the set.

When exactly did you last see a break in the middle of Eastenders or the 6:00 News?

Just ignore that stupid comment. "Wellie's" BBC bashing knows no bounds.

Well, never, but that's only because they'd never get away with it.

I seem to remember talk on this forum a while ago regarding plans by the BBC to put in trails for other programmes in the middle of long programmes, or in the middle of related programmes.

I'd never say never.

Just a fellow cynic.

It's got nothing to do with BBC bashing, indeed, the BBC has been responsible for some (if not most) of the best television in the world. I'm not belittling it's achievments at all. UK Gold would not be the channel it is, if it didn;t have access to the BBC's programming.

But, it's hayday as been and gone. There was a time when the BBC was daring and different. Now it's just, as I think Square Eyes said, a wannabe commercial channel following the latest trends.

Whatever "talk" there has or hasn't been, you answered my question yourself - NEVER. Now, if the BBC were ever to do this it would be a great shame, but as things stand right now it just doesn't happen.

To conclude this one (hopefully), all I was trying to say was that people shouldn't use exaggerated untruths ("there are more trailers on BBC1 than adverts on ITV") to attempt to justify their opinions. BBC bash if you will, I'm in no position to stop you, but don't blur fact and opinion.

EDIT - just read your last post, much more sensible. It wasn't really you I was talking about anyway Wellington, it was Square Eyes and his comment.

Don't you ever think, with a name like 'Turnbull and Williams', that you're opening yourself up to anti-BBC argument?

Er, Himgumby (or whatever you are called - I can't be bothered to press back to find your name) why is my age of such interest? Is it because I was offended at Lord's comments?
