A new series of ads for Weetabix have started, all based on TV presentation - with more than a hint of BBC2 about them.

Full videos can be seen on the website www.weetabix.tv

Quite fun, really!

They're great, quite funny to watch actually, and well made.

I was watching these, and waiting for some idiot to start pairing them up, as if it wasn't obvious already.

They could bring back the Weetabix Bunch to parody the much-loved BBC dancers.

"O-KAY!"

They actually look like they would be the sort of send-ups BBC2 would do if it did a 'Weetabix Night'.

"Half full" reminds me of the old UK Gold idents.. or UK Gold 2, I can't remember, where objects fell onto a surface except for golden ones which past through.

More than 5 years after retirement - 16 since they launched - and still the impact of the classic 2s is evident here in the majority of clips.

I think the simplicity has a lot to do with it, not just in terms of how memorable the 2s have become, but also how well they lend their concepts to such spoofs!

On the subject of Weetabix campaigns, does anyone remember the claymation ad from the early or mid 90's - pretty sure it was done by Aardman - about pirates aboard the Marie Celeste? Can't find a video of it anywhere but I'm determined to encounter one! Laughing

How bizarre. At least when Hamlet cigars did their "4" parody, the ident it was spoofing was still running!

They were the original idents for the "new"* UK Gold in 1997.

When UK Gold 2 launched, those idents were passed over to UK Gold 2 and then UK Gold launched it's fireworks idents.

*By new I mean "now part of the UKTV network"
