'Weakest Link' to replace 'Neighbours'

Doctors would never work in that time slot. It's a slow afternoon drama.

It's been done before hasn't it? It was going to be axed until they noticed it was doing well in it's 'temp' slot?

I don't think Doctors would work at 5.30pm if airing after CBBC - though it possibly would if airing as part of a daytime schedule.



Anyone know how afternoon ratings for Neighbours and Doctors have been affected since they swapped?


Talking of which, The Weakest Link I guess also solves the afternoon problem as moving CBBC back means they don't need to fill that slot. I expect Diagnosis Murder etc. will air at 2.10pm, with the news at 2.55pm into CBBC at 3pm.

But arent they supposed to be getting a new aussie soap so that will need to go somewhere.

Yeah, didn't they air Doctors in the 7pm slot at one point?

Don't think so - and if so, not for long.


It's "temp" slot was 2.10pm after Neighbours - originally it went out at 12.30pm where apparently it didn't do very well - but surely it can't have done any worse than the likes of Cash in the Attic!

As asked above where is the new BBC commissioned Aussie soap going to go - unless its going to be part of BBC Switch!!!!!!

TBH until the new soap was ready I would have gone for fillers, like in the 530/535 Pre-Neighbours slot such as classic as.....

OR

just give the slot over to Eggheads which would have been a much better option than The Weakest Link - they then could use the slot for other shows such as Come Dancing - it takes 2 etc...

I like a bit of Chachi as much as anyone, but only one of these programmes deserves the name "classic".

Exactly. By the time the words 'doctors doctors doctors doctors doctors doctors doctors doctors doctors doctors' have finished flying across the screen in the titles, the continuity announcer will have been replaced by a skeleton.

Just keep boring, dull things like Doctors neatly slotted away in the ~2pm slot where no-one will see it.

In that case why not simply have Pages from Ceefax ? (Before you start, that is not a serious suggestion Simon.)
