If Pointless is starting to do badly, maybe the problem is it's timeslot? It almost always clashes with The Chase - except for the celebrity editions. Maybe people don't realise that by using ITV +1 they could watch both, so they just watch The Chase on ITV?

Maybe they don't want to watch both or want to watch the news.

They're both quiz shows with an element of fun but they are both also very different at the same time. The Chase has a knack of getting itself into the news more.

If the BBC were to move Pointless and I doubt I'd like to them have a crack at 5pm chat show but as we've seen they're a very difficult thing to get right and would be a lot more expensive.

The Chase is usually new eps - us the odd week of repeats but ITV usually take it off air whilst Pointless just runs repeats more often than new eps, and it's probably catching up with them.

OP mentioned about a comedian doing it etc - when Anne went across to do the American one, I actually found the cutting but funny daytime syndicated host pretty good. It worked. Put downs with laughs.

This is what made me think of it.

Think his name was George Grey he's now the announcer on the US version of The Price is Right IIRC.

I've got a feeling it had two runs and in the second season they got rid of the final cash building so there was no reason not to vote tatically.

Problem with the daytime was it being fitted to 30 mins, with about 400 breaks it wasn't really a good fit.

This ep was particuarly funny though...

Can't be as bad as the remake of the crystal maze though
