I saw the promos for it on NBC this weekend. It premiers next Monday. In the promos, at least, it was the authentic British contestants and Ann Robinson - not an American spoof…

Haven't you guys heard about this? The papers have been ranting about this for ages. Anne's doing proper US versions of the Weakest Link over there with real american contestants. No spoofs!

Talking of USTV, I've uploaded some images of US TV's presentation over the Millennium as I was very lucky to be in New York over that time and got some off-camera shots, mainly from ABC where they were showing 'ABC 2000' with Peter Jennings (the guy you see on World News Tonight on N24) The quality isn't the best but theres some end credit promos from Fox, ABC and NBC on there. I'm sure ITV got inspiration from NBC for theirs!
I think the US weakest link will be very entertaning and think it should be shown over here on the BBC but NOT Choice (coz we dont all have Sky digital..yet..)
Anne Robinson is set to make a killing out of this. The Americans may struggle a bit with her accent, they see here as some kind of dominatrix, and expect her to get even nastier. The top prize on the US version is $1m.
I saw a report on this on MoneyLine Newshour on CNN/US last week.
There were plenty of NBC idents featured on the report, and actually, whilst I wasn't interested in tv presentation when I was in the states, looking at it now, it is rather good.
The American's are actually really emphusisatic about the show, and there is a huge board in Times Square, of course, next to Rockefella Centre, NBC/GE HQ.
With a picture of Anne saying 'You are the weakest link, goodbye'
Robinson is recording at KNBC in LA. Incidentally, I was talking to my mate in the US, who does continuity, after a fashion, for FOX and CBS.
I was asking him why they called stations on the west coast KSOMETHING, and ones on the east coast WSOMETHING.
For example, in LA, there is KCBS and KNBC, and in NY there is WNBC, and WCBs. does anyone know why, he couldn't think of a reason for it.
I know they were called REDBLUE, red for west blue for east, but where the K and W came from I have no clue!
And Asa, there is a way of plugging in the camcorder to the TV and recording directly from it, however, I have never worked out how to do it!
And I must send you those Mp3's of US idents, I keep forgetting, you can add them to the sound central section.
