Would make sense, a theatrical film would be shot at 24fps, and they've sped it up to 25fps for TV.
A TV show made on film for the UK almost certainly would be made at 25fps and not need to be sped up though.

If that's the case, it's quite normal to play a film a little bit faster to fit the TV slot, moreso in America.
The giveaway is every piece of music - once you've heard Staying Alive by the Bee Gees put through the 4% speedup (24fps to 25fps) it sounds more and more chipmunk with every repetition...
