Only way to sort out TV Forum

There's only one way we can sort out TV Forum now.

It's turning into a joke here. We've got members who are complete and utter morons, with an IQ no more than about 10. I'm sure plenty of them drag their knuckles along the floor when they go to the shops to buy the Daily Sport!

I've seen it bad before, but right now it's just at its worst ebb. None of the mods seem to be paying the slightest bit of attention, probably down to the fact we're throwing so much abuse their way - A choice conversation between RTS and I comes to mind.

Then we also have the infant members like 'Sky One unden', et el. I won't name any more names, but there are a few more around the forum right now who I wouldn't credit with much more intellegence.

I can forgive the odd typo, I make enough of them myself. But not being able to spell very basic words? Christ, does your mummy know you're on the internet at your age?

There's only one thing left we can do - Make everybody reapply for their logins with a damned good reason why they should be here.

I'm sick of reading utter tripe here now.

So unless anyone has got a better suggestion ....?

And, if by some miracle the mods do decide to show up, I really think you need to leave this rant open. There are some very mad people in here right now.

Why so many changes all at one time.

For starters, that should have a question mark at the end of it. Rolling Eyes

Who gives a sh!t.

For God's sake. I'm with Nick on this one now. The spelling, grammar and manner of this board is beyond a joke now.

It really isn't important in my opinion. If it was a forum about the English language then fine, but it's not.

As long as people can understand each other's points then why the big deal.

I left out a question mark - not because I'm not aware that there should have been one there, but because I forgot. Does it have any effect on your comprehension of the sentence? No, it doesn't. So who cares if it's left off or not?

Another area is txt speak. There's no problem with this as far as I'm concerned. It's not mis-spelling, it's just abbreviation. In the same way as it's (it is) and isn't (is not) - or are these to be banned too!!!?

Of course if someone's spelling gets so bad as to impede understanding, then they should try and buck up their ideas.

To summarise.... GET A LIFE!

Moz,

The rant was not aimed at your mistake of leaving out a question mark.

Partially it was aimed at your attitude when somone pointed out you left it out. It's a minor point in my much larger point.

Again, you've done it again by shouting abuse at me and telling me to "get a life".

So now if my opinion doesn't match up with yours I should get a life?

It just about sums up the unfriendly attitude of this place right now.

Most of your posts seem to be about criticising others for their mistakes - you're the one being unfriendly!

Oh I'm a lovely chap, Moz.

Just ask Nick. I bought him a drink once.

I think it's a matter of good manners. If people don't give a damn about the presentation of their contributions to the forum, why should anyone pay any attention to what they actually have to say?

Thank you James! Finally some sense here.

I think both Bruce and Moz have valid points here.

I've also noticed of late there seem to be some real morons posting plain rubbish, making up unfounded rumours and generally acting like little kids. I'm sure we all know who they are, so I'm not going to name names, but it's getting quite tedious - and I'm sure it's never been this bad.

Personally though I don't mind the odd spelling mistake or missing question mark. Providing it doesn't make it difficult to read or understand I don't see a problem. A huge string of comments on someone's poor grammar or spelling is a lot more of an inconvenience to wade through than the offending post itself.

Totally agree there - and I welcome what Uncle Bruce has done in creating a separate thread to highlight a problem

It would have been even better if he'd have quoted from other threads in this thread, leaving the other threads clear. It only goes OT if complaints are made in the thread.

I think it's also worth remembering that some forum members may be dsylexic. I think that genuine typing mistakes should be accepted, however this is a grown up forum for grown up discussion. In short if you haven't got anything sensible to say then don't say it.

Incidently going on past record it wouldn't suprise me if a moderator locks this thread soon. Cool

Me either, Charlie. But it's time we had an open discussion about this.

I'm not against dyslexia at all - I'm numerically dyslexic myself, or so my maths teacher told me, anyway.

But, I would point out if you are surely you'd make good use of a spellchecker??

I hope this thread isn't closed. I don't see any reason that it should be. A bit of healthy discussion on the subject might do the forum some good... especially when you see the likes of the 'new weather girl' thread just posted.
