I was just thinking the other day whether the watershed will ever dissappear with the turning off, of anaolgue (sp) in 2012. Within the last week and before that ive heard on a number of times the word piss and many more on daytime tv and the other day ba$tard on radio 1. What do you think?

IMHO as TV becomes more and more diverse I can see the watershed disappearing but being replaced with ratings, as they do in both the US and Australia, and as they do for films on both five and Sky

It's not really so much about swearing now although some words are still not allowed to be said until after 9pm. It's considered more offensive to say a word to with race, disability and religion, you should never really hear words to do with that on the television.

One thing I've never understood is when the watershed ends, midnight, 6am?. Can you say 'fu:ck' live on national television at 3 am for example?

I think it ends at either 5.30am or 6am.

When FIVE showed Prisoner Cell Block H in the early hours of the morning im sure 5.10am was the latest they could show it so it would end before 6am?

What I can't understand is why show's such as Jonathan Ross have the "F" word beeped out? It's well into the Watershed.

all depends on the swear word as to what time of day they can depict it. The F word for instance isn't normaly heard until between 1130pm and 5am - same goes for the C word and the T word. A Drama can on the VERY odd occasions can have it in but it has to depend on the drama and gain sanction from the appropriate authroties.

That's bollocks though. C4 will screen it in shows like Wife Swap from 9pm.

With ITV you notice that in a programme like Bad Lads Army for example, the F-word will be bleeped out in the first couple of parts of the show, but is generally left in towards the end.

Hence the reason I feel that we should have the ratings system that they use in both US and Oz.

Am I right in saying the watershed does not apply to some films screened by Sky Movies on PPV, as long as there's a security password used to gain access?

Angus Deyton provided us with a clue once upon a time.

During the first series of Hell's Kitchen, Gordon Ramseys persistant use of the word f^ck was bleeped in the first half, but after the second ad break (at about 9:30) Angus once reminded us that this was the point the "bleeper broke down" and Gordon was left to **** to his content.

Does there have to be a warning if there is strong language in the programme?
Friday Night With Jonathan Ross didn't have any warning nor did Big Brother when I watched it once, where after the adbreak at 21.00 (it started at 20.30) swearing came completely out of the blue.
