Waterloo Road's series finale was excellent last night. The announcer said it would be back in the Winter.

I hope though they dont turn it into a weekly series like Holby City has become. I like Holby but think it would benefit from proper series running say 30 episodes a year.

Holby Blue is also back next week for a longer series - 12 episodes this time whilst series 1 had 8 eps.

That's all what we need, and airing at exactly the same time as The Bill too. The people who disagree with the licence fee will have a field day with this one.
The 8pm slot is becoming a very soapy lite drama slot on BBC1, with Holby City, Holby Blue, Casualty and Waterloo Road producing around 135 episodes combined per year

The finale of WR was good last night but a tad far fetched. With a fire and two scandals, the school would not survive in real life and would be closed immediately. In the next series I hope there are more than 5 pupils this time

I found the blocked door part a bit far fetched, like they would just have this chained up door in the middle of a school and after several munites of dramatic screaming they realise that if they force of handle off they can get out.

and how the hell did that guy just walk in off the street to accuse the head of being a prostitute, where was the compulsary school security. All accesses to school must be locked form the inside so nobody can get in and the shootings in Dunblane exactly 12 years ago is testamony to that fact. he should have been escorted off the premises and the police called.

I work in a school so I know the security situation

I go to a school and there is a door just outside the music classroom that is always locked (like the chained door in Waterloo Road) and the gates and doors are never locked and they are never manned during school hours. Certainly in my school the same thing could happen that happened in Waterloo Road yesterday.

What a fantastic finale last night. It was just great, very realistic and it was acted well by all. I hope Rachel doesn't die! Can't wait till the winter.

It shouldn't really be that easy to get into a school though.

and your locked door in your school may not be a fire exit like the one in waterloo road was, you could see a fire alarm call point on the wall which is a flagrent breach of health and safety, and no apparent reason for it.

they had a simlar story on casualty where the head (who looked uncannily like Max Farnham) had locked the fire exits to stop the kids from bunking off lessons and of course there was a fire with Charlie's son being one of those trapped.

at least there was a viable reason for the blocked exit, not like in waterloo road where it just occured to add to the drama

I loved last night's episode, but I just wish they didn't have so many cliffhangers.

And why does every series have to end with, "ooh, I wonder if she died?"

Series 1 - Lorna (who didn't but then did in Series 2)
Series 2 - Izzie (who did)
Series 3 - Davina and Rachel/Amanda

I wouldn't go that far, but it was certainly very entertaining.

I don't agree my old school anyone could have just walked in a number of ways in to the building, but the Fire Exit bit was a bit OTT but still worked well.

More to the point, why does every series have to end with "Ooh, I wonder if Tom Clarkson's latest partner has died"?

And they had an extra episode of Holby City this week on Wednesday for no reason as well. Mind you I am enjoying Holby at the moment. There is also going to be a crossover with the storyline in Holby City on Tuesday continuing in the new series of Holby Blue on Thursday.

I agree about WR being a bit unrealistic in terms of the scandals that go on there - nice to see Joanne from Corrie in it though! Wink

I wasn't sure it was her most of the cast have either been in Corrie or look like Corrie cast members i.e Donte looks like Jason Grimshaw.
