I have just seen the BBC Two ident with the 2 split into two parts by water with on half appearing to be of a larger proportion, and the waterline going diagonally along the screen.
The background is light blue and the music is very light and floaty. I thought it had been withdrawn, anyone know anything different?

I certainly have no recollection of the ident you describe having become used less or not-at-all at any point. I'm sure I've seen used as much as any other ident might be. Sorry if this is not what you want to hear(!).

'Water' - one of the original 1991 idents, still one of the most commonly used, and still one of the best! Very relaxing soundtrack on it.

Maybe BBC Two Wales have lost all their tapes of other current '2' idents, and will be stuck perpetually using that one, until someone finds the box with the rest of them in tomorrow afternoon or something...
Billy, I wasn't previously aware of that subtle change in the water ident (the reflection, not the change of BBC logo!). I wonder why they bothered (?).
Lee, your signature got me thinking... It seems inevitable now that Carlton will attempt to replace the HTV name at some point in the future. This might not be quite such a big deal in the West of England, but I imagine that Welsh viewers really really won't like it because they're a NATION, not a REGION.
My solution is to give Wales a different name from both 'HTV' and 'Carlton', but in the style of the Carlton logo:
West = CARLTON*

Wales = CYMRU*

Very interesting......the problem is HTV are trying to steer well clear of any references to Cymru because they no longer broadcast Welsh language programmes, but a very in teresting idea though.
BTW, the ident i saw Billy was the reflection one.

The TV Room and the MHP say that one was withdrawn in late 1997,the same time the new BBC logo was announced!
However,the no reflection one is still used quite a lot.

The information on TV Room and MHP concerning 'Water Reflection' is, to the best of my knowledge, correct. That particular ident was withdrawn from use in October, 1997.
Having being withdrawn at that particular time, Water Reflection would not have been re-produced with the larger '2' as the other idents that made it through post-Oct 1997 had. So, I'd doubt very much in these circumstances that BBC Wales had such an ident available to them.
If Geraint is around, perhaps he could confirm...straight from the horses mouth...as it were.
