"Flog The Hunt" A new game show where you lash the former health secretary!

If it is then I hope the odds will be in my favour.

Holby City could become a 2 minute interlude within an episode of Casualty.
Holby's a weird one because it really doesn't rate that well but it is constantly there and never seems to be under threat of being axed or anything. It's filmed in Elstree so it's not like it's a box-ticking regional production. It doesn't ever seem to be on the radar whereas Casualty still occasionally spikes on Twitter. Holby just... exists.

Wiki suggests Holby finds some of its writers via the Writer's Room route, so it may be a breeding ground as it were for new talent, so if that is the case it's actually doing some people a favour. Like Casualty its just sort of expanded to air all year.

Sorry but this makes absolutely perfect sense in the modern age. The idea of a weekly consumer show that only runs a few weeks a year is absolutely bonkers. There should be a team working on consumer stories all year, and those stories should be aired on News (or The One Show) as and when they are ready, with appropriate online coverage too.
In 2020, Watchdog should be competing with Money Saving Expert, not Coronation Street.

To be honest Watchdog isn't the dog it used to be. It used to have more teeth and actually get stuff done back in the 90s, but of course that's when it was on more often (ie the best part of a half a year) but seemed to go downhill when Anne Robinson came back a second time. These days it's just a TV version of those people who whine on the local Facebook groups.

I really loved it in the Nicky Campbell/Julia Bradbury days. Particularly when all the studio lighting went red at the start of an interrogation of a spokesman from that week’s shamed company. I never felt it worked when they merged it with Rogue Traders, both shows had rather different styles that never quite fit together.

I have to agree with Neil. The anniversary show highlighted just how much it did in years past and how little was achieved in modern times. It'll be sad to see it go as its own show but some of the topics were starting to get really trivial. I'd often just record it and skip to the Rogue Traders segments

I watched a few eps last year and most of the stories were cases where the consumer issue was easily avoided by not letting kids get mitts on your credit card or situations where the company resolved the issue for the one person complaining, but the show running so periodically means follow ups were tough to do.

This seems to be a wider trend though, the "not my problem" thing, and its why we get things like new "protections" which is code for "people can't be bothered to look after their own affairs so we'll get Ofcom/wat/gen/pizza to do it for them" - things like the energy cap for example.
