Washes Whiter BBC Four Sunday 9:10pm for the next couple of weeks.

I have heard about this and it is meant to be fantastic documentary on television advertising in the UK up till the early nighties

If it's what I think it is then it was shown many years ago on BBC2.

It helped me through my Media Studies course and their theories on advertising were very interesting indeed.

Thats it, BBC Four have a "Mad Men Season" for all shows about advertising.

Mad Men is a fantastic show as well, really loving it on BBC HD.

Washes Whiter was first shown in April 1990 and has never been repeated since. So about time!

Forgot about the letterbox captions. Looked very modern and innovative in 1990.... very dated now!

Great show but you can see how things have changed even since then - housecleaning adverts were still pretty much exclusively women in 1990, when since then we've had the Flash adverts with that guy, Fairy Liquid ones with Ainsley Harriot, and, erm, Mr Muscle I suppose.

I also liked the fact that they would show the name and year of an advert even if it was literally a one-second clip, and how 'modern' adverts were represented by ones such as the OXO family and the Shake and Vac advert.
