One imagines BBc and ITV will stay with news throughout the night - stay tuned.  BBC2, CH4 and CH5 with normal programming.

What actually happened in Star For A Night - was someone singing, then a 'News Report' caption

I think someone was actually singing, I was just listening to the TV, so I may not be correct.

Was it just me, or did ITV take a direct-feed from CNN?

Yes, there will be no Antiques Roadshow.

Big loss there!

Turkish TV is covering the event with varying degrees of both American and, in some cases, Afghan bias...I'll talk about this more in a minute...I'm busy watching!

surprised that ITV have decided to ditch coverage with Tony Blair about to speak.
Really Nicky?? With Pop Idol - how on earth could ITV1 drop that Very Happy

Cheers, Asa

Well indeed - too much ad money and promotion involved in it and I suppose there is coverage on BBC1.

(MS)NBC are impressing me rather a lot at the moment. If only they weren't using such stupid graphics.

BBC seems to be limited in that they haven't yet joined World and the main BBC coverage, which is very silly indeed. Sky are lucky in the respect that they only have one network to provide news for. Oh, ITV have given up.

To be honest, it doesn't really matter who you watch - as long as it isn't ITV - because you'll see the same pictures, places etc.

I shall watch Sky to see Mr Boulton reporting on Tony's speech but regardless of which network you normally prefer, it's just a time to flick about to see who's got what, not stick with just the one.

A lot of tihs over the next few hours then...

Why does it mean they have better coverage when they join?

It just means 1/2 the work, the two channels may havge slightly different audiences.

Now that ITN are 'favourites' (or indeed have now succeeded) in winning the ITV News contract again, it seems as though their work has been done.

When they needed to perform, they pulled out the stops on september 11th, however now they provide under-par coverage with the BBC and Sky out-performing them.

However, we must remember it was ITV's decision to go to Pop Idol, not ITN's - but I don't think the coverage would have improved vastly.

Surpisingly, in 7 pages, no-one (apart from c@t partially) has mentioned Sky News, Fox News, Euronews, Al Jazzera, Fox News or ITN News Channel.

Euronews were very ready for Tony Blair's speech, it stil hasn't happened as of yet, but they were there with a live feed of journalists talking on their phones about what to do in the studios whilst they wait.
