Does Sky News call it 'Sky News Live' or do they just say 'Sky News?'

I'm watching Newsnight now on C-SPAN2 -- it's a really good show, I've only seen it a few times before. I like their astons. I'm kinda glad it's not corporate - makes it noticeably different. Does anyone know what font they use?

Sky don't call it Sky News Live, no. But I think they've got to bring back the branding pretty soon. Having all of this identical presentation is annoying.

BBC America have stopped simulcasting BBC World Sad

It was good while it lasted

Do they show it live? - if so did they show all of it, as it was extended, and most of the last 1/3 of the program was about the collapse of Railtrack - not really relavant to non-british viewers?

does any bbc2 continuity 'slip' through at the begining or end?

Yeah they showed the whole think live -- the chopped of the end credits though which **** ed me off a little…
no bbc 2 stuff seeped through -- C-SPAN are very careful about things like that.

are regular US citizens (eg 'the man in the street') interested in watching bbc / sky news? or is it simply for financial reasons?

im asking because i know my parents and friends would not be interested in watching US news networks.

i watched a programme on bbc 2 tonight, this bloke traveling through afghanistan, he was stopped by the taliban - but as soon as he mentioned BBC they knew what he meant and mentioned london etc... i was wondering would itv, sky or even any american tv network's name had the same reaction?

11pm and BBC America is once again carrying BBC World... this must be record setting coverage, going into a third day with only one break for a movie. Very Happy However, don't expect BBC World idents or presentation: they're back in 'filler promo' mode, with promos for Castaway, The Soccer Show, a nice new-looking promo for BBC News with Michael Buerk and Jeremy Bowen, and hordes of outdated BBC75 and BBC World News promos(with the flags!). The 'News' Union Jack ident is being used in and out of breaks.

BTW, is C-Span going to show 'Breakfast' again? Here's hoping...

I'm fine with MSNBC's astons, but their huge spinning globe with the place name written on needs to go - it's so pointless.

I was left gob smacked after seeing CNN Domestic's graphics. They're so awful it's untrue. They had nice simple astons but what the hell is all of this TARGET : TERRORISM rubbish? They've really broken ranks with that live DOG too! That's a serious move for CNN, the live DOG is always near the CNN logo. CNN International have made a minor balls up with the graphics. Just how many graphics do we need to tell us something is happening? They've got 4 layers of graphics, and I thought Sky was bad! Although I'm convinced Sky isn't finished yet, there are still things to come, I'm sure of it.

I've not really been too impressed with CNN. But then again you've got to remember this is not - as CNN's Aaron Brown pointed out - a TV war. The last TV war was Kosovo and we all know who won that, don't we...
This war really isn't for TV networks, and the sort of coverage we're seeing really shows that. So from the viewers perspective this is not going to be a great war to watch on television.

That comment about a Fox viewer emailing Sky to say they should remain on Fox for as long as possible isn't surprising, judging by the sort of news that can be found in the US. I'd be interesting to see what sort of an audience Sky would get in the USA. Sky is such an odd channel in that it ranks above BBC World in Europe and in other areas of the world. It's viewing figures are right next to CNN and Euronews's, which is quite amazing considering it's mainly a domestic service. I'm sure a lot of the coverage is relevant to overseas viewers - especially at a time like this - but on a day to day basis the coverage is mainly domestic and so it does make you wonder how it gets such high overseas audiences.

I think It'd be a great idea for all (obviously excluding CNN) of the US 24 hour news channels to be broadcast over here. It's great to get a totally American perspective on events, and just gives the viewer a wider choice. Fox News looks like it's on its way, and I've got my fingers crossed that CNBC will take more MSNBC coverage overnight.

MSNBC has been doing pretty good 'round here; they have been simulcast on CNBC for a portion of Sunday, and their crawl was put underneath their stock tickers for at least the early part of today (Monday). Last night, CNBC ran CNBC Europe from the wee hours and leading into Today's Business at 6A Eastern.

CNN International normally runs on the CNNfn signal on the weekends, so we got to see the differences in the graphics and presentation of the events from the global point of view over the weekend. I have to agree that the modified graphics on CNN's domestic signal are wretched. The 'Target: Terrorism' & 'America Strikes Back' graphics are a huge disappointment. CNN's biggest reason for doing that is their struggle to stay ahead of Fox News. Fox has been gaining on CNN for the past few years, and this is a situation where CNN basically has tipped their hand -- they are running scared.

I wasn't aware that Fox was running Sky overnight, but I'll take a look tonight. I've sent them a note in the past suggesting that they do that in general as opposed to rerunning their evening talk show slate during those hours. I DID (on the other hand) get to watch BBC Breakfast on C-SPAN last night, though.

OK, I'll come clean and admit that I'm not exactly au fait on what's going on. Due to (1) being in France and (2) being ill and in bed for the whole weekend, I didn't actually hear about the strikes until yesterday! Shocked

Don't really know what the French stations are making of the whole thing, as I don't have a telly. Very surprised to hear that CNN are lagging behind on this - i'd have thought that their experiene of this sort of thing would put them miles ahead. Still, I suppose veterans like Bernard Shaw are no longer around, and new people like Paula Zahn and Aaron Brown have been brought in. Just out of interest, who exactly IS Aaron Brown, and where did he spring from? I remember reading ages ago that he was going to host a new primetime newscast but had no idea who he was. The first I saw of him was when he presented from new york on September 11th.

By the way, those ITN virtual studio pics look VERY good indeed! Do they make good use of the technology? Oh, and are MSNBC still using their 'war room'?

From before 8AM to 11AM (UK) Fox News were showing Sky News. After about 10AM they had a special dog which was the Sky News logo but without the time.

Sky News also mentioned they were on Fox and read out loads of emails from the US
They were broadcasting since at least 7am. The special DOG was only on Fox, and was to cover up the clock.
