BBC America is taking BBC World at the moment... and I'm quite impressed with what I've been seeing.  Barring the very annoying BBC America bug at the top-left(to cover up the BBC World bug-- isn't working, since they're letting everything from World thru, including break fills, idents, and yes... the countdowns).  I have one thing to say:

WOW.

BBC World really, really needs to be carried by ASmerican cable systems... because the BBC's output puts the American channels to shame.  I love everything they do, the idents, the countdowns, the titles, graphics, music, style of reporting... it's very, very professional.  I love it!

(btw... yes, I'm new here... please be kind Wink )

Agreed. I love BBC World on America! I think they should just ditch America and keep World on 24/7 here in the States!

I'm switching between World on America (saw all the countdowns, including a 45 second N24 one, the titles, the neat World Business Report set, heard the cool headline beds, etc.) and Breakfast on C-Span, which also looks quite nice.

Man, I hope this happens again tomorrow night... Very Happy

Agreed...(and I don't know how this quoting system works, so if it looks bad, forgive me) I'm just a little shocked they're letting it through--0 surely they would have spliced in some BBCA presentation. Not that I'm complaining, mind you... this is some of the best news/graphics material I've ever seen(I'd take the BBC graphics over the ugly rotating DOG on Fox News, or the overclutter of MSNBC anyday...), and hopefully it'll continue well into tomorrow.

Setting my VCR to tape about another hour or two of coverage while I sleep... and wishing BBC has the sense to get Discovery Networks to carry World as well Wink

How CANADIAN 24-hour news channels are covering the Pakistani news conference...

CBC Newsworld

CTV Newsnet

He's surrounded in so many mics! And look - the Al-jazeera mic flag!

Gee, I'm SOO glad Clorets manages to get some subtle adverts done during an important news conference...

And notice how CTV Newsnet is calling the Pakistani  leader the 'Mililary Ruler' while CBC Newsworld is calling him the 'President'.... odd... Razz:

Right, I managed to get some of Bill and Heather overnight as well as the whole of The World Today, so I'll get loads of widescreen images this afternoon, when I get back from work.

Sky News were first yet again. N24 continued with the sports news for ages before they broke off to bring the breaking news.

I take it it is usual procedure to fly in the big guns when a major story breaks? Mark Longhurst and Lisa Aziz were doing fine on Sky - they weren't due to finish until midnight. But during Blair's speech, they changed into Jeremy Thompson and Kay Burley. The same with ITV, Trevor was drafted in from is weekend retreat.

I think the Beeb and ITV were right not to provide continued coverage during the evening... there wasn't a rich source of pictures, unlike 11th Sept, and basically it was just talking heads.

I told you The World Today would be shown! Did they have a special with the special music?

Just the regular titles although the screens said it was a special. They used a pretty funky headline bed though.

Was the headline bed a new one to you? I didn't see it or record it, so I don't know what one you're talking about!

There's now a BBC News special on News 24 and World. They didn't even use the World Headline bed! It was the crappy News 24 one, along with the overnight ident!
