Anna Jones has replaced Maxine Mawhinney.

Whats happened to Chris Lowe? I would have thought they'd have put Gavin and Chris on together!

Chris could be doing the 0000 - 0500 shift tonight, with who ever else. I also wonder if there will be a World Today Special?

arn't most of the presenters get promoted to the main news.

I bet we'll see Gavin Whoever on the BBC 1 News soon.

All the News 24 presenters are a bit unproffesional...

Just watching the ITN News Channel over the web (by the way, the ITN web-site seems very informative compared to BBC Online).

However, the channel had an audio interview with Julian Manyon in Afghanistan, and they showed an ITV News screen-shot of his face and a map and name etc, however moments later they realised their error and switched to a fully clue ITN News Channel screen with his face and name on.

ITV News set for immediately after drama, therefore 10.05pm this evening.

Gavin Esler is the head of BBC News 24 presentation team.

What do you mean 'they are all unprofessional'?

How on earth can you say that when they have covered such a huge event so effectively with very little mistakes?

Admittadly, some are better than others, but you can't tar everyone with the same brush! Look at Philip Hayton- he's been a news caster for 30 years. He is the most professional on BBC News 24 and is a jolly good and professional anchor!

Please think about things before you say them!

Gavin has presented on BBC1 and used to be a regular presenter on BBC2's Newsnight.
He went to News 24 as one of the 'big' names to launch the channel.
He was for many years Chief North America Correspondent for the BBC.

Another indication that the American channels knew that something was going to happen today was that most of them have hired Arab-speaking translators -- I know they don't keep them on the normal payroll!

MSNBC is now showing Al Jazeera live (there's a Taliban interview) They did carry President Bush's address - so I guess they're pretty fair. The presenter does look very modern and 'western' looking. They've gotten a lot of exclusives.

What time? The normal morning time or are they going to have a special soon? I've never seen it and I'd like to tape it for my eventual TV card!
