It's official - war has broken.  Kate Adie has been dispatched! Wink

I thought the BBC were really quick off the mark breaking into a programme.  I can imagine ITV network centre in a frenzy.  It took nearly an hour to wind up the cogs in the great BBC machine, but it got there with vid phones, live's & pressers.

Unless there are more development's I guess the networks may only slip in a couple of minutes during the junctions.  Was a good move to put SOP on, there was no more news, and SOP is hardly inappropriate (unlike ITV rushing to get Pop whatsit on).  If viewers really want rolling news then they would either have digital by now, or listen to the radio.

Kate Adie is a very senior correspondant at the BBC. If she's involved - its important!! She has covered many wars.

Alek, it was before his State Dept. work. He was sent to Washington to cover US political reaction for Sky, during the Gulf War. Got invovled with government and now the rest is history.

He came back to do some work for Sky for Election 2001.

Channel 4 News are being impressive now.

At 5.55pm, ITV1 went to the ITV News with Katie Durham

Does anyone know what happened with ITV1 Regions, which were showing recorded programming (Basically everyone except YTV and TTTV)

I'm a bit late replying to this, but LWT were showing Dinner Dates, it was end of the first part and then it went seemlessly into the ITN news room, with an announcer speaking, before the camera zoomed to Katie's face.

Wether the rest of the network waited for the LWT programme to goto the ad break, so it was all perfect timing or not I don't know Smile

I hate Kate Aide. She's only important because she was shot in the arm.

Christiane Amanpour on CNN ranks more highly in my opinion, always gets better interviews.

Just what has happened to Sky's (I can never spell this) Aenough Van Lynden? He was their senior foreign chappy, no sign of him since being in the middle east, he was in Sky's Vienna bureau for a while. They've got Peter Sharp in Pakistan though, he's pretty important.

Yeah Christiane Amanpour is really good - one of the best in the world. God she has a great job! Haven't seen Kate Aide so I don't know what she's like…

Channel 4 News looking in great shape for the short duration I've been tuning in.  They've just told us that attacks will continue throughout the night and the Taliban are ready for a holy war - lots of live links and feeds.  BBC continues with standard programming on both channels at 8pm - 'Future War' on BBC2 is a timely scheduled documentary.

ITV is showing Coronation Steet with a 15-minute news special sandwiched before the start of their New Drama programme, which they are unlikely to drop.  It maybe extended to 30 mins.

BBC ONE have just had a trail for the Ten O'Clock News with George Alagiah. There should be no more News 24 reports on BBC ONE until 10 when it will be from BBC National News studio . That is unless something major happens!
