Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

I can imagine it being quite popular as long as it has high production standards and that the format isn't altered too much like it was in the final 3-4 years with the celeb editions (the clock, the poorly mixed background music, the poor camera work, the mad rush towards the end of each show due to being live and the much easier questions than previously. )

The original run to 2010 before it was messed about ,with was very good and Jeremy Clarkson with the PUBLIC - on ITV , could be excellent (and not on too much). If it is on Channel 5 for example, it won't have that attention grabbing feeling somehow.

Plus, the Lottery isn't as influential as it used to be, making fewer millionaires each week as the top prize isn't won as often these days. So a TV show to offer this amount of money, would be very welcome!

I did think give it a few years it could come back, but in my opinion it’s too soon.

Also if it’s some cheap version on Channel 5 it’ll probably kill the format off for good.

Jeremy Clarkson is also a bit of a martmite personality

Millionaire has indeed been recommissioned by ITV for later this year though from what I’ve heard Clarkson has already turned it down.

If the BBC has any sense they will license Top Gear to W.Chump & Sons. It would solve the problem of the BBC management middle managers & focus groups interfering in the production. Cohen is no longer there causing trouble & Tony Hall is a fan. Grand Tour isn't anywhere near as successful as their version of Top Gear - everyone wins.

I wonder who could be the host? Hopefully they'll go for someone who isn't already presenting a game show on ITV or anyone from the ITV stable.

I also wonder if it'll be the classic format or one of the tweaked formats like Millionaire Hot Seat.

Where have you heard ITV has recommissioned it?? Will Chris Tarrant return?? Probably a new host would be better, but certainly nobody like Stephen Mulhern.

With Weakest Link returning also, it could be an excellent year!

Good god, just the thought of having Mulhern present it turns my stomach. Wouldn't put it past them giving it to one of the Daytime folk on the basis of ITV having absolutely no imagination.

I couldn't see anyone from ITV Daytime who would work well on Millionaire, Morgan would be too serious, likewise Kyle, Phillip Schofield might work as would Ben Shephard but neither would be ideal.

Would a female host work? I can't think of any off the top of the head.

ITV casting got a bit better of late. How many shows does Stephen Mulhern have at the moment? If they were considering Clarkson I could see it suiting Piers Morgan actually.

From ITV Daytime, Eamonn Holmes would probably be another who might work.

For female hosts, you'd probably be looking at somebody like Anne Robinson, or poaching Victoria Coren-Mitchell from Only Connect.

Piers Morgan would be ideal!! He'd be a right swine ratcheting up the tension!!
