Found the following on Media UK, best of luck everyone.

"Flextech TV Continuity is looking for fresh talent.
If you've got a good voice, can write interesting copy and talk exactly to time, then we'd like to hear from you.
Flextech operates a range of channels including
Livingtv, Bravo, Challenge, Ftn and Trouble. Our continuity announcers have to be prepared to spend hours in a small dark room, speaking live to the nation.
Interested? Send a demo and some information about yourself to Anthea Angelis, Presentation Dept,
Flextech TV, 160 Great Portland Street,
London W1W 5QA.
One more thing, don't call us - if we're interested we'll call you!"

I've got a reasonable grasp of English and an interest in TV... got no previous experience though, which would probably count against me in the incestuous TV job market...

No, but the chip on your shoulder might...

At 15 I'm unlikely to get this job, but I've got the voice and a demo CD... I might apply anyway.

To be fair dude, you'd have to be absolutely outstanding at the age of 15 to even be considered for the job.

Don't worry though, all you need is some patience and you'll be through A Levels and Uni and before you know it - looking for a job. It really DOES go fast!

Interesting stuff Banksey. Be warned all you would be anno's, Flextech only want young trendy things who have NO grasp of continuity, timing, or script writing. If you can S-H-O-U-T into a microphone and NOT communicate on a 'one-to-one' then this could well be the job for you.
So grab a copy of the TV Times, get out your CD-R's and start producing that master piece.

Interesting, if they are looking for numerous people, it could be that Flextech wish to begin live CA's?

But haven't they just had a spring clean of all their announcers. Maybe some of the ex ITV regional announcers should apply

I thought the live continuity thing was started some time ago as the new innovation brought in by the then head of programmes.

Aw, come on Mike, you've missed a crucial point here. They also want it CHEAP. Trumpington's Third Law of Broadcasting clearly states that when a broadcaster or production company uses the word FRESH in the context of recruitment, they mean "inexperienced, too green to argue and, above all, cheap"

As the best continuity announcer in the world I felt it was my moral duty to send them my CV and CD.

Extract of my favourite piece on audio thereon emailed as an mp3 on request.

I'll do the job for £25 per shift and my bus fare from Portgordon to the studio.

Flextech are skint though aren't they - I heard they were offering £15 and two cups of coffee
