Is there anyone on here who watches Wales Today?
What's it like?
What about the presenters, are they good?
Programme format?
Is there anything you would change?

Just interested, as it's a region which rarely gets covered on here

Yes, I get Wales Today along with my normal region. Its OK, the presentation is very good, along with the presenters, Jamie Owen and Sara Edwards. They do like their stings and music, they have 2 coming up segments!

I do watch Wales Today instead of North West Tonight, I wish I could get a better picture though!

The format:

immediately after National News, the presenter comes on and says 'Hello, I'm ... This is BBC Wales Today', followed by the opening titles, then the headlines. They have a coming up segment 5 mins into the programme, and then another at 15 mins in. The studio is huge, lots of different areas to it!

Hope this helps

Wales Today in my opinion is the best regional news programme. I don't like Sara Edwards much though - she's a bit snobby (and she's English - grrr!)

Jamie however, is probably one of my favourite newsreaders Smile

btw - did anyone see Derek the weatherman do his dance the other night on that stage thing next to the big screen? that was funny!!!

So Jamez, have the Welsh got a thing with the English? Like hating them? Does that really still exist?

I know in the 70's there were troubles with the English buying country cottages - the famous slogan went 'Come home to a REAL fire, Buy a cottage in Wales'!!

Myself and Jamez (I think) live in pembrokeshire which is called 'little england beyond wales' because it is a very englishy part of wales, and becos of that we get a lot of english people moiving down here, and to be honest not all of them in my village are very welcome.

i have no problem with the english but i do have a problem with people moving down here, slagging off my language and culture and expecting to run the place!

Anyway, back to tv, I have to agree, i have seen a lot of bbc local news and wales today does seem to be one of the best! and derek the weatherman, what a guy!

So Derek's a good laugh then Smile
What about the set? Is it a good one? Would you change anything about it or any part of the programme, or keep everything the same?

One thing I'd change is the sidebar - it definitely needs one. At the moment, its just the window behind the presenter, its OK but it can look a little boring.

I don't hate the English.

Its just there is an incredibly high percentage of rude, arrogant, self-loving t*ats living in the south/south east of the county.

People from places like Yorkshire and up north are a completly different kettle of fish, and should not be tarred with the same brush as their arrogant southern counterparts!

Lee is right, Pembrokeshire is known as little England beyond Wales, because of the very high amount of English speakers and the near complete lack of anyone with a Welsh accent. Places like Tenby are full of retired London doctors, accountants etc - pushing the house prices sky high. In the last 10 years the value of my house has nearly trebbled to £250k (good thing or a bad thing?)

We also get Wales Today from across the water and it's FAR preferable to Points West.

WT seem cover the WHOLE of their country with REAL news stories, rather than PW which is all 'another frog born in pond' rubbish and ONLY if it happens within walking distance of the Bristol studio. It needs to be a pretty horrific multiple murder for PW to venture out into the wilds of Wiltshire.

Aren't the 'coming up' points at 5 and 15 on WT for the Bangor opt-out? Or did that never actually happen.

COUGH COUGH!

Um. Right. How do you work that one out?

I think that point shows how arrogant the Welsh are - or am I making a terrible generalisation like James is? For all I know, the Welsh are complete freaks. And at what point do the arrogant people disappear and become Yorkshirefolk?

(You can find my response to some **** from Manchester who had a go at Essex at the BBC Essex Online messageboards - practically the same response in fact. http://www.bbc.co.uk/essex/interactive/talk/talk_essex_image5.shtml)

This is an official call-up message for all people living in the following ITV regions:
Thames/LWT
Anglia
Meridian
Westcountry
HTV West
Central South

Your nation has been attacked! Now gather up your Jag, champagne, Evening Standard and other Southern things like Fern Britton - we're invading a place unbeknown to civilisation - a place full of barbarians... this place is called... Way-ells...
Soon we shall be victorious, we shall burn down the National Assembly and take Arfon Haines-Davies hostage! And we shall make them spell properly!

Onwards men to victory!

DISCLAIMER: The above is an ironic statement and does not intend to cause offence just show up a stupid statement in a relevant context. Thank you.
