standard, 'cos there's no black bars at the top or bottom of the screen.

Depends on how the programme was made. Every channel should employ at least one switch-flipper to make sure shows/clips are shown in the correct ratio & not stretched/squashed/overcropped... whereits.at (RIP) had problems with this, including the legendary 'double letterbox' where w/s clips/videos were shown stretched to fit meaning more black bar than actual clip!

even though i havent got a widescreen tv, i like widescreen. everscince bbc1&2 started putting trailers and the weather in widescreen, ive grown to like it. when they do have to switch between ratios, they now do it less noticably. i wonder when central, and other itv stations will start producing local news in widescreen?
Only by 2 votes- it was int he lead by about 4 when i voted.
Another thing I dont like is cropping/arcing or whatever the hell its called. All material should be shown as it is and as it was meant to be seen.Im am especially appalled with the BBC in regards to the news, CBBC and I love 19xx on this topic.

Calm yourself mdta, I voted for 16:9 (even though I have a 4:3-shaped TV set) because I like the idea of seeing all of what was actually filmed, not having bits missing from thr sides. I have my Sky Digibox set to show 16:9 programmes in 19:9, not zoomed to 4:3.
