Acording to John Sergent, ITV will not be supporting this candidate come election time. He said this when he was a guest on Des and Mel last week.

Well no, of course not. They have to be impartial. They can't "support" anyone.

Who won anyone? I'm praying it wasn't that ex-con who made Kelvin McKenzie look left-wing, but I've got a bad feeling it may have been...

It was the ex-con who made Kelvin MacKenzie look left-wing (one Rodney Hylton-Potts). But what do you expect from an ITV phone poll?

Incidentally, has anyone seen the ITV Vote For Me website? Whoever writes the updates seems quite keen to distance themselves from the result, without actually coming right out and saying he shouldn't have won.

Hmmm..... it doesn't seem to exist any more - how convenient. Rolling Eyes

This has to be quite embarassing for ITV anyway - they are effectively responsible for putting forward a prospective MP who even Kelvin McKenzie has compared to a Nazi. They won't want too much publicity for that.

Not really a great surprise though. George Bush won the American elections because he polarised the electorate - you either loved him or hated him, and no-one noticed Kerry. Same's happened here - this guy has made himself the centre of attention, while the rest had all the coherence of people who write into their local newspapers to complete about dog **** on the pavements.

Still says a lot about the masses though, unfortunately.

Well there was also the Phone Mast women who kept almost being sued for libel every time she opened her mouth. Jonathan making the point that nothing had been proven!

Now you know why they showed it at 11pm, they must have had a crystal ball!

Cheers for that - you're right, the writer hasn't held back and they are completely right. By the looks of things, ITV are visibly embarassed about this and are already disowning the programme. I don't think you'll see a second series somehow.
