BBC One Northern Ireland are now showing Vote 07 - the Northern Ireland elections. They seem to be running a derived version of the old TOG graphics system.

973 on Sky Digital if you want to watch.

Quite nice IMO and the studio, whilst small, is quite fresh and bright.

The TOG is a little large though!

The UTV Live lens flare has reared its ugly head in the titles. Mercy.

Quite like the studio, though I wish they had retained the Vote 2001 or the Rick Wakeman Election theme.

I think the enormous TOG was just to fill the space until they could put the party tallies up.

I've noticed it occasionally rotates to display just one row for the Alliance Party. Not sure whether they're included in the 'oth' tally as well.

The TOG is quite cool actually. It sorts the parties in order of how many seats they've won - which is something I haven't seen before on election coverage.

They've also now removed the 'others' row and replaced it with a row for the Alliance Party - as they're the only 'other' party to have a seat at the moment.

Nice twist on the network graphics - although are the Astons in the first image TX'd in the wrong aspect ratio?

Fabulous studio and graphics, good banter in the studio too, overall a good piece of work. But that shrill for music? Mercy indeed.

That happened in the 2005 elections, I agree it's smart though.

Brilliant coverage as always from BBC Northern Ireland. Classic dialogue there between presenter Noel Thompson and ever irascible Dr Paisley, who was in full flow..

Ian Paisley: "...and you as a servant of the people, in the BBC, which is PAID for BY MY MONEY and all the..."

Noel (Caustically) "Well we're very grateful for all the money you give us Dr Paisley.."

IP: "YOU'RE NOT A BIT GRATEFUL!! YOU NEVER WERE GRATEFUL! (Noel attempts to interrupt) EVEN WHEN YOU LIVED THERE BESIDE ME... who are you trying to bluff Noel, you've bluffed enough people in your day but you'll not bluff us anymore!!"

Noel: "Well we all have our crosses to bear.."

Noel held it together admirably!

Right up there with Jeremy Paxman and George Galloway in 2005.

Ian Paisley seemed to be mostly not looking at the camera, too.
